Default A few tips for you

    Hello, ladies

I just joined the site and thought I'd post some routine things I/we do, to save $$$$.

    1. I cut ALL of our hair! I cut my own, my husband's, and my 2 children's hair. It really isn't hard - you can watch videos on how to cut hair on youtube.com.

    2. My husband has about $300 dollars saved, JUST FROM saving his change. He has one of those battery-operated gadgets, that separates change into little stacks. He's very methodical about it - LOL!

    3. We don't subscribe to any magazines (who needs to, with the internet)

    4. We use a Skype phone for calling long-distance and so, it's basically free

    5. We shop at thrift stores

Those are just a few things...you all probably already do these, as well, just thought I'd throw my .02 worth in.

if you cut your own and your family hair, have you checked into buying a flobee? Its about 75 dollars but I've had mine and used it for over 10 years now.

Those are good tips. I cut my family's hair... but I'm a cosmetologist LOL! I save lots of money there. We can get cuts, perms and color for free. We save our change, also. It adds up faster than you would think. The one magazine I receive is Woman's Day and my DMother sent it to me. I am not sure what a Skype phone is. If we have to call long distance we use our cell phones, it's not exactly free since we are paying for the wireless service, but there is no extra charges like if we used our land line.

Change does add up really fast doesn't it?

I cut our hair too, except for mine. I go cheap though. My older son who lives 2000 miles away now, hates so much to pay for haircuts, that he uses a trimmer (he wears his really short) to keep it groomed between appts. He goes to a barber as little as possible and ALWAYS wants a free haircut from mom when he's home. I'm so proud of his frugality!

    Good tips!

We too cut our own hair. we also use a floobee (it attaches to vaccuum). We found ours brand new for $20 at a yard sale. That was 20 years ago. We both cut our hair every 5 - 6 weeks, so we have saved a bundle. Keep watch at those yard sales - you never know what great bargain you may find.

I cannot hear this mentioned without thinking of the Suck Cut on Wayne's World.

    lol !!!

my new husband doesn't like the flobee, so he goes to get his hair cut but I have used mine for at least 10 years if not longer....
used to use it maybe 4-5 times a year...
at 20 dollars a haircut and tip...( supercut price).. It's paid for itself 10 times over.
I uswed the extra money to pay down the principal of my house so I could pay it off early... AS WELL AS MANY OTHER THINGS TO SAVE MONEY...
    now...

I could go anywhere to cut my hair... even a fancy salon BUT I LIKE THE FLOBEE BETTER !!!!

    LOL !!!!!!!!

Skype is a program you can download to talk via the internet. It is free to download and free to use. You may see on the site a place to pay, but that is to talk via the phone. Over the internet it is free. We use it when dh travels to China and to talk to our family in other states (by the way, both parties have to download it). If you both have a webcams, then you can see each other while you chat.

We just ended our long distance and added Skype. Our cell phones are the pay as you go....we find it much cheaper than a phone contract.

No Flobee here, but hmmmm....have to keep an eye out for one.

I go to the Paul Mitchell school. I get just as good as a cut from paying $50+ as I do paying $15! It takes several hours, but that's ok...I use it as "mom time!"
