Last time DH made cookies, I guess he stored the brown sugar, opened, in the back of the fridge. After much searching, I finally found it but now its rock hard!! I want to make some cookies for snacks but I don't have the money to buy more brown sugar...

Do you guys know a way that i can save it????

You need to return moisture to it. There are several methods. What worked for me in the past is putting it in a bowl with wet paper towels over it and microwaving it on medium for about 1 min. You need to keep an eye on it so it doesn't burn.

I've kept mine in the pantry sealed in a Tupperware (to be specific a Tupperware Modular Mate). Ever since I moved my brown sugar to a Tupperware container it's never gone hard. They used to go hard in almost every other container I had ever used.

I got a small ceramic disc for Christmas which I soak in water and put in my brown sugar. It works.

I keep mine in a old glass canning jar with the rubber gaskets. Even thou it's air tight, it still sometimes needs more mousiture. I just fold over a heel end of bread and put it in the jar for a few days, it's soft as can be now. The bread once hard gets feed to the worms.

I do the bread thing too. It works really good for keeping the bread soft.

    Good Luck!

I put it in a airtight container with a piece a bread (crust) or a wedge of apple.

I use the ceramic thing soaked in water 20 minutes first, and then put in the sugar. But an apple cut in half works just as well.

Uhuh... i don't really know ... i make my own Brown Sugar.

1Tbsp molasses per cup sugar for lightbrown sugar

2Tbsp molasses per cup sugar for drk brown sugar

i like mine a little extra drk so usually turns into almost 3Tbsp molasses

I either mix it together with a fork til distributed or put it in a baggie and squish til distributed for use on oatmeal and what not. If its for in cookies i just add stuff seperately.. say it calls for 1/2 cup brown sugar i add 1/2 cup white sugar and 1.5Tbsp molasses.

I think if you put a piece of plastic wrap across the top then put the lid on, it may work. My vote is for the piece of bread. I know in some odd stores (not that this is frugal) you can purchase a clay disc that you soak in water first for 20 mins, dry off and toss into the air tight container and it keeps the brown sugar soft. Bread's readily available and free in my eyes.

I dont use much brown sugar however would the bread trick work for the brown sugar splenda as well?

Put it in the microwave for about 30 seconds to a minute.
    Will soften right back up.

Yay!! It worked! So I tried the microwave and it started to melt, so what I ended up doing was wetting a paper towel and putting it in with the sugar for about 2-3 hours. I then took it out and put in a piece of bread and its still soft 2 days later!! Thanks for your help guys!
