I use plastic store bags (the standard size) to line my waste baskets that are in various rooms and as trash bags in our car & truck. They can also be used as packing material if you have to send a package to someone. They make great liners for boots, if you have one with a leak. You can use them as a tote and I have used them to line small cat boxes. I also give them away for people to use for their yard sales, ect. I generally get some of both, since we do have recycling through our trash service. The catch is we have to put mags, newspaper & the like in a paper bag...the rest of the stuff can be loose.

also I know that paper grocery bags can be used to cover school books as we often did when I was younger
I don't have ANY children yet, much less school age, and dh and I are out of school as far as being a student goes:-(

Here is an awesome link to give you ideas of what to make out of those plastic garbage bags. I would love to make the shoes but will probably never find the time.

with the paer I do decoupage and craft projects, use them to store things in the garage.
With plastic I use them for kitch trash liners, use them to clean the yard and pick up dog poop, I've crocheted strips of plastic bags before into bath mats and used them in painting too.

    I like having them both.

I worked in customer service for SO long I feel TREMENDOUS pressure to keep the line moving along
I just blurt something out to be quick about it
it sounds horrible but there's nothing worse than standing in line behind someone that agonizes the SMALLEST most minute choices then waits till everything is rung up and bagged to even START writing out a check
I just feel like it's inconsiderate...

    why don't you .......?

tell them plastic one week and paper the next !

Build you up a little stash of each.
I took my grocery sack to the store when I was looking for a kitchen trash can to fit under the sink... to be sure whatever trash can I found would fit the grocery bags, since the bags are free.

On trash day I have 10 little bags set out for the trashman. Sometimes I tie them together with another bag, so he only has to bend down once to pick them up ( they're light)

We don't get a choice, they use plastic bags at my store. I use them for the kitchen and bathroom garbage bags. We also bring lunch in them and if I end up with more than I need, the grocery store I shop at has a bag recycle container, so I bring them back and put them in there.

We don't get a choice. I use plastic bags for lunches, trash can liners, packaging material, and I'm sure a few others I can't think of right now.

    Thumbs up

Why not make or buy your own reusable bags--that way neither has to be used. Better for the environment all around, and at some stores you get a few cents off your grocery bill. I think my grocery store gives 5 cents for each bag you bring.
