Default Uses for empty pill bottles...

Around here we get quite the quantity of pill bottles of various sizes due to the number of scripts my hubby & son have. I hate throwing these bottles in the trash and have already used as many as I can for the obvious storage purposes. Does anybody know of any place that accepts donations of these types of bottles. I automatically take all labeling off them once they are empty and the tops can be either screwed on or pushed on (reversible).

If you clean them really well, maybe a daycare or school art department?

I have a similar issue. Each month a certain prescription I have comes in a plastic business card size holder. It would be great to hold business cards. Not really sure who I could offer these too though .

When my kids were in day care, they used them as ice packs. Filled them w/water, froze them and when a little one got a boo-boo they gave them their own little ice pack. Easy for them to hold until they felt better

That sounds like a great idea! Maybe you could decorate them and use them as stocking stuffers?

We donate ours to the local food bank. They have it on their request sheet. I'm not sure what they use them for. We also give them plastic butter and cream cheese tubs to divide grains and flour into.

An elementary school teacher friend of mine uses the large pill bottles to hold pencils on the desks of students. He glues (hot glue) them down on the desk and poof... pencil holders. A local pharmacy gave him a ton of them to use.... Easier for the kids too...so their pencils dont get lost in their desks. On holidays he buys them holiday pencils to put in their holders ... the kids love it!

The TWG has a page showing how to use the bottles to make ice pops. Kinda neat idea. But geez I sure would make sure I sterilized them really well first!

I use the small ones and keep in my purse. I refill these as needed (I try and buy the 150 ct of meds when they are on sale with a coupon of course). I never know when I am going to get a headache or have heartburn.

Be cautious about that! In Kentucky, you can be arrested for having meds in non-original containers. Even if they're over-the-counter! Now, were that the case charges probably wouldn't "stick" but who wants the hassle?! ;-)

The only reason I know this is that I used to do this too...until a police officer friend warned me about it.

Most of my bottles are from the vet & they happily take back the empty ones when I pick up the new prescriptions - they have even poured the pills into the old bottles. Didn't make my kennel happy though.

Cat toys. Put a marble or a jingle bell inside and lock on the lid. Keeps my critters happy!
