Borax?
I'm sure there are a lot of uses for Borax and I have a big box of it at home that I bought for some reason....

Any ideas of ways to use this?
Thanks!!

Create a line to inform roaches not to cross.
Borax can help to kill fleas in your home. Just sprinkle Borax on your carpet and let it set for an hour or more then vacuum it away.
Borax is a safe drain opener and a great alternative to those expensive store-bought drain cleaners. Just mix a cup of Borax with some boiling water and empty it down the drain. Any grease stuck in your drain that is causing the clog will melt away.
To control the odor of your cat’s litter box try mixing Borax in with the cat litter.
Borax can remove the smell of urine from furniture and mattresses. Just wet the areas of the mattress or furniture that are affected and shake on some Borax. Wait for the whole thing to dry completely and then vacuum it away.
Sprinkle some Borax into the bottoms of your garbage pails to keep them smelling fresh.
If you have hard water add a bit of Borax to your bath to soften it. Hard water makes soaps and shampoos less effective.
To make your toilet bowl clean and fresh shake a half a cup of Borax into the toilet and let it sit for an hour or so. Scrub the bowl with a toilet brush and it will be sparkling and odor free.

if you have kiddies or are just bored
Homemade Slime Recipe
Borax
White Glue
Water
Food Coloring (optional)
Ziploc bag
1. Borax is available in the laundry section of your local grocery store. Take a cup of water and add to it 1 Tbs. of borax (approx 4% solution). Stir until completely dissolved.
2. Make a 50% water 50% white glue solution. Take 1/4 cup of each and mix thoroughly.
3. In a ziploc bag, add equal parts of the borax solution to equal parts of the glue solution. 1/2 cup of each will make a cup of slime.
4. Add a couple drops of food coloring.
5. Seal bag and knead the mixture.
6. Dig in and have fun. Remember to wash your hands after playing.
7. Keep your slime in the sealed bag in the refrigerator when not playing with it to keep it longer. Unfortunately it may eventually dry out or grow mold. Just throw it out and start again!Reba

My herbalist said that it will kill mold. Just mix in a paste and scrub. If it's a large amount of mold remember to wear a mask while cleaning.

I LOVE Borax for cleaning.
I use it in my steam cleaner, and it completely gets rid of cat pee. (we had a bit of a bladder issue recently) I add half a cup or so to the tank with a cup or two of vinegar and voila. (The vinegar smell goes away as it dries, or add some castille soap)
Sprinkle some in the wash before I start the cycle and it boosts the cleanign power.
And, I make my own all purpose cleaner: 16 oz bottle of water with 1/2 c Borax, 1/2 c vinegar and a couple squirts of castille soap to add a nice clean smell.

I actually found mine at Target. It's a little pricey at 12.99 for a bottle. (Can't remember the size off the top of my head) but a little goes a long way and it can literally be used for everything. I use the almond scented one (yum!) but Target also had lavender, unscented, and peppermint. I've heard peppermint is great to keep fleas off pets.
