Default Can you sub in margarine for butter in brownies?

I don't have butter, though I do have margarine. I got the most killer craving for brownies and I have everything I need to make them...but the butter.

What's the difference between using butter and margarine in recipes like homemade brownies/cakes/pies? It is a consistency issue?

They'll be just fine. There *are* some recipes that just taste better with butter, and in those cases it will call for "butter, no substitutions"

Now I am craving brownies. Thanks a lot :raspberry: J/K

Margarine might give them a different texture but they will still taste like brownies.....YEA!!!! Just make sure you have margarine and not spread.

Your brownies may be moister using the margarine since it has more oil in it than butter does. That is a plus though .

Oh the brownies came out marvelously. They were so soft and moist...

    mmm.

My big problem with brownies is that they make me want milk and I'm allergic to milk.

Try some plain soy milk (not vanilla) with the brownies. Not that bad. Pricey though.

Hey, I'm in Michigan's BEAUTIFUL U.P.--it won't take me that long to get to Calgary--save me a brownie!
