A cupcake cake like this one? Or something more complicated?

    No problem

I think it just looks like cupcakes grouped together and then frosted as though they are a solid cake, kwim?

I think it's a GREAT idea for a child's birthday--well anyone's birthday but especially great for a kids' birthday where they can just take a cupcake vs. a slice of cake

    How old is your grandson?

I want cake now too! , and how funny that when I typed the code for the smily : lip : (w/o the spaces), I typed "lipo" by mistake :laughinghard:

Haha I thought you meant a cake that looked like a giant cupcake. That would be good too.

I've seen those before, I always thought It would be hard to frost. Maybe you frost them all separate, and then put them next to each other and kind of mush the frosting together. IDK.

Yes, I agree with it being tricky. I would do as suggested above and frost each individually, smoosh them together, and then try frosting it as if they're one piece.

Did you make the cake yet, Jayne?

I like that making a cupcake cake means that you can do different flavors to make everyone happy. Kathryn & Lauren love vanilla cakes for their birthdays, but I prefer chocolate. So this would be neat to make since I could use vanilla AND chocolate cupcakes
