Making cupcake cones with the kids today!
My son and I are going to make cupcake cones today before the kids my husband watches and my neice get here. I am also making homemade frosting. When they get here, they are going to decorate their own snack! I'm going to have different bowls with different colored frosting and then sprinkles. I'm hoping they like it! There will be a total of 4 kids ranging from 3-8 years old. I figure it's something they will all enjoy!

I know they have a cake pan the shape of cones.. is that what you are doing? I use the actual cone and fill with cake mix. My kids love it, easy peasy and easy to clean up.. they eat it all, no cupcake paper..(well my dogs usually sneak and get them from the kids and I have to chase them down)

Oh have fun! We love making and eating cupcake cones.
Are you making them in the oven or the microwave?
We have made they both ways depending on what we have on hand and how much time we have. Oh and how many we want to make.

we put the cake mix in the cone. Then I made my own frosting and put food coloring in it to make purple, blue, yellow and green frosting (their choices) they frosted the cones and then dipped them in sprinkles. They had fun and of course I took pictures! I'll try to post them later.
I made 35 cones! Each child made 4 to eat immediately and will each take 4 home. I'm sending 4 home for each sibling also.
Kitchen is cleaned from that and now I'm waiting for my dough to rise for homemade hamburger buns.
It's perfect weather out today for baking so I'm taking advantage of it to get a few things done! I'm going to freeze some of the buns for later use.
Now, on to the macaroni salad to go with the hamburgers for dinner!
hmm, wonder what I can make after that?!Me 34 DH 37 DS 6

Yes, DS loves to help mommy in the kitchen!

I measure,he pours and mixes until the batter gets too thick. I let him use the electric beater with supervision but even that gets heavy for him. It's great to have special time with him since I work so much and am not around much.
Surprisingly though he didn't eat his. The other 2 ate all of theirs!Me 34 DH 37 DS 6

Here is my recipe
Microwave Cupcake cones
ingredients needed
1 pkg oil free mix (some scrath cake and muffin recipies work too)
flat bottom cones
icing
Make cake according to directions. Pour the batter into a flat bottom cone. Fill only 1/2 full.
Cook one cone in the microwave on high for approx. 1 min (times vary from microwave to microwave) They will cook and rise out of the cone. Ice the cones with colored icing.
Personal notes: We have used the just add water mixes like cake mixes and muffin mixes as well ( jiffy is one brand). We have also had luck with some scratch recipes but not all of our scratch recipes. To test our scratch recipes out we just make a test microwave one and if it doesn't work we make them in the oven.
My kids loved to watch it bake and rise so fast. Then they were in pre-school their friends thought I was magic. LOL . Now that they are older I'm no longer magic but they and their friends like to make them for a quick snack.
