My rice cooker has water lines on the tub as well as a measured cup to use. If I want to make a Carolina rice packet or similar in the rice cooker--would it work if I just follow the packet directions? It calls for 1 2/3 c. of water along with the mix.
Probably a silly question, I know, but it would be so much easier to make it in the cooker than on the stove
Well I'll be darn! I have a rice cooker that was a hand me down.
So far in 9 years I've used it 3 times thinking I could only use it for just plain white rice. It was just too nice to toss and I thought I had to make "gobs" of rice in it and since there are only 2 of us now, I just used the minute rice variety on my stove top.
Now you've got me thinking and I may be able to use it for those boxes of flavored rice mixes which dh loves! If they are flavored he will eat it and usually the leftovers for dinner the next night.
I don't think I have a recipe book for it but the recipes you all provided should surely work.
I made a rice packet in mine, and it came out pretty good, but I found that I need to add a bit more water (maybe 1/4 c.?) because the water cooks off faster. I had some sticking to the bottom of the pot, which I don't usually have with white rice.
