A couple things I learned about rice many years ago. 1. don't buy broken grains. Look at the bag. Do you see whole grains or a bunch of broken ones? When you cook broken rice the starch comes out of it and you get glue. Most of those store brand super low price rices are not very good quality rice. 2. If you don't want sticky rice, rinse it first. Rice naturally has a lot of starch in it. By rinsing it first you get fluffier, non-sticky rice. 3. Never stir rice until it is finished (unless you are making risotto). Stirring activates those starches.
I invested in a food steamer a number of years ago. It's my favorite appliance. It makes perfect rice every time. I will never go back to cooking it on the stove. You might try one. I love that I can set it and leave it, and do other things without having to watch it.
    Awesome tips! :chighfive:
    Things I didn't realize.
    Thanks so much.

For years I used instant rice and then finally learned how to make regular. Then several years ago I tried brown rice and that is what I love now. Doesn't matter the brand, it is always good and healthier too!

I love jasmine rice and basmati rice. I tried both of those when a friend gave me coupons for free Carolina brand rice.

Right now I just buy store brand long grain rice and make it in a rice cooker. Never thought I'd need one, but I am so glad I made the (small) investment. Like a previous poster said, it's great to be able to pop it in the maker and do other stuff while it cooks vs. babysitting it.

I love basmati rice. It stays nice and firm, not sticky. I don't have a particular brand that I favour.

We use Basmati and brown rice. I purchase both at the health food store.
