Consumer Reports Picks "best coffees" (and it isn't a pricey brand)
Found this article on coffee this morning on Yahoo and thought I would share!
http://shopping.yahoo.com/articles/y...est-cup-o-brew
DH and I love the Eight O'Clock french vanilla whole bean, and I guess we were right to do so! Found it interesting though that it topped some of the pricier brands as far as taste goes!

Never heard of that brand. My favorite is Nabob decaf. Find Folgers bitter or was that Maxwell? I try not to buy from the shops, just grocery brands. Which is really funny, my SIL is a coffee snob. I have a container of gourmet coffee that was a gift, that I kept to store my Nabob in, she keeps telling me that she doesn't know what I do different but my coffee is so much smoother than hers..lol Store brand or Nabob is usually in that container, she thinks it's gourmet, tells you how much labels affect people.

I never heard of that brand either. Of course we live in a small rural area that doesn't have many options. It's always Folgers for us.

We use Archer Farms. I've seen Eight O'Clock in the store, but it's sorta hidden on the bottom shelf.

I've never tried that brand but I will next time. We just bought a huge 3 lb can of coffee from Costco. We only drink coffee occasionally so it will last for a long time.

I use New England coffee, but it tends to be pricey (I bought a ton last time it was on sale). When that's done, I'm going to try 8 o'clock.

I've not tried that brand. I do like the Lousiana coffee, Community Coffee Company. I used to buy it when we lived in AL, I can't find it here in NY though. Last I knew, it's what they serve at Ruby Tuesday. It's yummy!
Our everyday coffee is Maxwell House. Splurge is Hawaiian Kona coffee or Dunkin' Donuts brand.Last edited by YankeeMom; 02-06-2009 at 08:52 PM.

I wouldn't call 8'oclock brand cheap coffee. It costs almost double the price of the store brand on sale and I've never seen it go on sale.

Glad to hear I am not crazy. I really don't like Peets coffee and when I brought my son back to UC Irvine they have a chain like Starbucks there. One job I work at, bought Peets coffee. I had to dilute it about half with water and I am used to hospital coffee. It is the Jim Beam of Coffee. I can't believe it is that expensive.
