Default What kitchen tool is a must-have?

What kitchen tool do you absolutely NOT want to live without? I'm not talking about things like crockpots, coffeemakers, toaster ovens, and so forth. Rather, these are just the tools that you find in the drawer or maybe piled into a crock/cannister. Examples would be knives, wooden spoons, potato mashers, etc.

For me it's scissors. I keep a sturdy sharp pair close to open packages, cut apart chickens, cut pizza slices, cut sandwiches, and so much more. I have them out several times a day, it seems.

    What tool do you nominate?

The item I go to most is my colander. But if it were a utensil, it would be a good sharp knife.

I would have to say my Cutco tomato knife, although I have a whole set that I rely on everyday.

I still love my wooden spoons. Close second is my glass measuring cups.

That's a hard one...I'd have to say my rubber scraper and knives.

Oh, there are so many to choose from. I would have to pick my kitchen shears, followed by my cheese slicer, and finally my whisks.

My paring knife. Use it lots of times everyday. But I have multiples of them.

The one tool that I would replace instantly if it quit working is my meat fork thermometer. Love it and use it every time I cook meat....though I long for a good rare steak, I just don't do it anymore and the fork keeps me safe.

I have 3 that I would be truly lost without. My good knives, garlic crush, and wooden spoons. And in that order also.

-Danish Dough Whisk - http://www.kingarthurflour.com/shop/...ough+whisk&gcl It's the perfect tool for making quick breads and mixing yeast breads by hand.

-Pampered Chef Stainless Steel Bread Knife - does a wonderful job slicing breads into thin slices.

-Ok, one more, Wonder Cup Two Cup Adjustable Measuring Cup. Great for things like solid fat, peanut butter, honey or syrup....

Mine would be a garlic press! I am actually without one right now, and I never realized how much I used it, until I had to go without! I used it all the time!
