ISO Ideas for Food to Take to Ladies' Luncheon at Church
We're having a ladies' luncheon at church in a couple of weeks so that we can make our own wreathes for our homes. We're bringing luncheon foods and I am going to bring a fudge/candy tray. I am looking for something in the appetizer or hot dip/spread or a salad. I did consider hot spinach/artichoke dip. I need something I can make ahead of time and/or make and bake at the church (an oven and microwave is available). Something easy and not too expensive (?) Anyone have any ideas, suggestions or recipes?
Thanks.Kim

Bite Sized Taco Turnovers
These are really easy and delicious appetizers. Homemade or frozen pizza dough also works.
1/2 pound ground beef
1/4 cup taco sauce
2 teaspoons chili powder
1/4 teaspoon onion powder
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1 10-ounce package refrigerated pizza dough
1/4 cup shredded American cheese or cheddar cheese
1 egg
1 teaspoon water
For filling, cook ground beef in a small skillet until brown. Drain off fat. Stir in taco sauce, chili powder, onion powder, and garlic powder. Set aside. Unroll pizza dough. Roll dough into a 14x10-1/2-inch rectangle. Cut into twelve 3-1/2-inch squares. Divide filling among dough squares. Sprinkle with cheese. Brush edges with water. Lift one corner of each square and stretch dough to the opposite corner, making a triangle. Press edges well with a fork to seal. Arrange on a greased baking sheet. Prick with fork. Combine egg and the 1 teaspoon water; brush onto turnovers. Bake in a 425 degree F. oven for 8 to 10 minutes or until golden. Let stand 5 minutes before serving.

How about deviled eggs? People seldom make them any more, yet most everyone likes them.

~Ladies love fancy chicken salad! Make your chicken salad the way you normally would and then mix in some almonds and blueberries or cranberries and walnuts. A little goes a long way.

I LOVE the spinach dip on the side of the Lipton veggie soup box. I serve it with bagettes (SP?) to make it a little different. It is something you can make ahead of time and then warm the bread in the oven or right before you leave. It's sooo yummy.

How about something like a pumpkin custard. Basically pumpkin pie without the crust. Something to get everyone in the holiday mood. Or a nice warm apple crisp.
