Here's One For the Books -- Dishwasher Cooking
Seriously, this would have never even entered my mind, but apparently you can poach fish in the dishwasher.

There is a food safety issue about using a dishwasher for food preparation. If you do the salmon recipe, as long as a thermometer inserted into the thickest part of the fish reads 145° F, it’s safe to eat.
Here's another interesting recipe for Dishwasher Lasagna: http://www.partselect.com/JustForFun...r-Lasagna.aspx

I had heard of this before, but isn't it a huge waste of water?

Dishwashing Machine-alternate use
Very interesting, not sure
if I would ever use the dishwasher to cook food. But interesting to know, no less. Thanks for the info.

I had heard of it too, but not eating fish it was only a curiosity. But I agree with Contrary Housewife. It always seemed the hard and expensive way to do things. I don't cook fish, but can't you do that in just a few minutes on the stovetop? I'd also heard of the safety issues.

I think I'll pass on this cooking method...
even IF it didn't freak me out about cooking food in a dishwasher, and trusting the water to be hot enough to get the job done...
I would probably go through an entire roll of tinfoil to make sure no water got IN to the food... AND the tin foil would end up leaking anyways and get food all over the dishwasher
I can't be out of money... I still have checks left!

And then your dishwasher would probably smell like raw fish for months.

Why would anyone even want to?
Bank of America is THE godfather of Hell with Wells Fargo running neck and neck. When the world ends the only things that will be left are cockroaches, Walmart, Wells Fargo and Bank of America. Not necessarily in that order. The order remains to be seen.

Oh FF you beat me to it. That exactly what I was thinking. Just because you caaaan doesn't mean you shooould.
My Up North cousins used to have these bbq's where they used a new aluminum garbage can to layer food to cook. Our family always refused to go. I worried about leaching.

Dish washers, vehicle motors, sunny back windows of cars, garbage cans... and people think I'm odd for using a Solar Oven (LOL). I used to have a cookbook for "cooking" in an electric coffee pot, of great interest back then (before the microwave) for college students living in a dorm.
