Default 7 boxes of cereal open

I was looking for potatoes for dinner tonight(we are out) but in the process I found 7 open boxes of cereal. All diff. kinds. We will be having cereal for breakfast the rest of the week. And I will have to start keeping better track of what is open and what is not.

We are allowed one box each , which means 4 boxes open.
I have a problem with my husband snack bags - we have had 7 open at one time - this drives me crazy

Hubby is NOTORIOUS for opening multiples. SO I open his cereal boxes and dump them into a storage container that is on top of the fridge and he eats from that.

It is a little extra work for me, BUT it saves me from throwing out stale food!

Are any of the cereals something you could mix with various snacks to make a trail mix? When we start getting down to the final bits of our snacks--mini marshmallows, m & ms, pretzels, goldfish, raisins, etc. I mix them all up into a big ziploc for a trail mix.

I make "cereal/granola" type bars with tidbits of cereal, seeds, nuts, mini marshmellows, choc chips..... they are never the same twice - but always yummy!
    here's the base recipe:

Chocolate Chip, Coconut & Peanut Bars
2 1/2 cups crispy rice cereal
    2 cups old fashion oats
    2/3 cup packed brown sugar
    2/3 cup honey
    1/2 cup peanut butter
    1 tsp vanilla extract
    1/4 tsp cinnamon
    1/2 tsp salt
    1/4 cup packed coconut
    1/4 mini chocolate morsels
    1/4 peanuts
    Directions:
In a large bowl combine the rice cereal and oatmeal. Grease or line a 9×13 inch pan. (I prefer to line the pan with saran wrap because it makes for easy clean up.)

Mix brown sugar, honey and peanut butter in a small sauce pan. Stir over medium heat until just boiling. Add to cereal mixture along with vanilla extract, cinammon, salt, peanuts, coconut and chocolate chips.

Press into the prepared pan using a spatula, spoon or your hands. Set aside to cool, then cut into bars. (ok, mine never actually get hard enough to cut into bars, they are more the consitency of rice krispie bars, but OH SO YUMMY!!

This is a bit weird, but I make the guys clip the top with a clothes pin and put them in the fridge. With the bags being in the fridge, it helps them to stay fresher longer and it helps me keep track of what is open.

We also have a rule that only one bag of cereal can be open at a time. They are pretty good about following it. Usually, the only time we have more than one open is when we have special ones in the house (like one specifically bought for someone because it is a favorite).
