    Default I have mulberries.

That sounds almost as dreadful as I have chicken pox, doesn't it?

It turns out the tree in the "tween" space (between the fences) is a mulberry tree and they are starting to drop. I've never cooked with them before and would love some ideas other than jam or pie as we don't do a lot of desserts these days.

Do they survive dehydration whole or should I pulp them and grind to a powder? I would prefer drying them whole if at all possible as they will be more versatile.

My online search tells me I can freeze them but I don't know if I want to sacrifice a lot of space there.

The one shelf recipe was for Rummy Mulberries where you dissolve sugar in rum and pour them over the berries and let them sit in jars on the shelf for 3-4 months. I might do a few of them just because it sound wonderfully wicked for a summer time drink.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

I have no idea what mullberries are but if you're going to make them drunk, you can serve them as a dessert - topped over ice cream or secretly mixed into an 'adult version' of a fruit salad

well i make mulberry jelly every year and cant keep it on the shelf --what i do (thats not to say everyone does) is i do them like i would do a raspberry jelly recipe i wash them then i put them in a pot and add just enough to cover them the i bring them to a full boil then turn down to a simmer for 30 min then let it cool and strain through a jelly cloth and squeeze the bag to get all the juice out of them throw wast away --now you use the juice as the raspberry call for -----thats how I do it - check around mulberry's make very good jelly and please check other mulberry recipes.

This site has various recipes (muffins, cookies, etc.) and I read somewhere where you can dry them whole and use interchangeably for raisins, currants, etc.
