Help me use this grape jelly!
I have a few large jars of grape jelly that have been rotated to the front of the pantry and expiring soon.
I have made the grape jelly/chili sauces, used it in bbq sauces, melted it down for syrups...
DD use to live off grape jelly, now she's anti-pbj because she has a friend fatally allergic to peanuts.
Help... PLEASE
I can't be out of money... I still have checks left!

Okay, here's a link to a recipezaar search for "grape jelly" as an an ingredient. It seems that aside from what you've already done, there's various sauces you could make: bbq, etc.

add no salt.
in a large, non stick, frying pan, fry some cubed potatoes and onions in a lot of olive oil and butter until brown, add at the last minute a clove of pressed garlic til aromatic and has kind of burned look. add some leftover cubed pork loin (fully cooked) and heat through. drain the grease.
glaze: 1/2 grape (or any) jelly, 1/2 yellow prepared or dijon mustard (to taste). mix the glaze in to the pork and potatoes. and heat through. serve immediately. does not leftover well.
i saw this on "Great Chefs". (edit: only he made it with this lovely cherry stuff...) it's good. i make it all the time.Last edited by ladykemma2; 06-05-2010 at 06:23 PM.

In an old cookbook I had a recipe for grape jelly pie. I couldn't find the recipe so I did a web search and found this. It's very close to my memory of the recipe of which I was thinking of.

and like FW's Mom, I also used to make plain muffins with a teaspoon of jelly baked in. They were very yummy!~~~

I just made some of these... they are okay, I think I needed more 'something' in it, but they were good all the same
Peanut Butter and Jelly Granola Bars
2 cup Oats, rolled, old fashioned (not instant)
1/3 cup Peanut Butter, reduced sodium (creamy or crunchy)
1/2 cup Jelly, grape (or low-sugar grape spread)
1 In medium bowl, mix all ingredients together thoroughly.
2 Spread in lightly greased 8-inch square pan.
3 Bake at 350 F for 20-25 minutes.
4 Allow to cool at least 10 minutes before cutting. Makes 8 bars.

I mix grape jelly and chili sauce and put in the slow pot with Lil Smokies. Of course I can't find the recipe but it seems like I got it off a slow cooker recipe site. Sorry if I find it I will post. Does jelly freeze for later use?

Thanks for the suggestions so far... keep them coming!
I like the idea of grape pies... I wonder if I could do something similar in my sandwich maker....

Hello! Grape Jelly Rolls!!
Who says they only come in raspberry? And you can freeze the leftovers. Maybe you can teach DD how to just eat toast w/jelly instead of pb/j? Or make 'surprise' muffins with the jelly in the centre - ooey gooey filling type muffin. Can you make a cake and use the grape jelly as a filling btwn layers?

I was going to suggest jelly rolls, but Libby beat me. You must be talking about boughten jelly - not home-made. Home-made doesn't expire, it just transforms either into a vinegar sauce or mold raising petri dish. If it's neither, it's good. I'm working on a 6 year old jar of plum jam my wife made. It had a little spot of mold on it which I composted.

As a kid I would mix some in my scrambled eggs. It turned them green and made them taste sweet.
