    Default rusty canning pot/rack??

i was just given a canning pot with a rack inside. it's not terrible, but it does have some rust. i know lids & rings cant have rust , but does anyone know if rust on the pot/rack matters??
i do have a dremmel, so this weekend i may try to sand it a bit.
really appreciate any feedback yall have!! :-)

SOS pads. A dremmel? How much rust. Will another baking rack fit? You don't want rust in your food.

Lids and rings can't have rust because they might not seal properly. It should not matter on your pot or rack. A good scrub should get rid of it, scouring powder or an SOS as suggested.

It should be okay...........get off what you can. It will probably rust again at the same spots with use. You are just going to be boiling water in it...........
