Default mint flavored hot chocolate mix recipe needed...

planning on making some hot chocolate mix for x-mas gifts (as long as I can find a recipe), but my sister is a HUGE fan of mint flavored hot chocolate & I thought I'd make her a special surprise. Does anyone know how to go about making it mint flavored...preferably without big chunks of peppermint candies?

Thanks in advance for any help you can send my frazzled way!

I've never tried this, but could you put hard mints or candy canes into a food processor and process until they become "dust"? Then mix that into the chocolate?

    Mint Hot Chocolate Mix Recipe

Homemade Hot Chocolate Recipe - MarthaStewart.com

The Martha Stewart recipe is a basic hot chocolate recipe but has variations listed in the descriptions. You could make a basic mix and then buy little add-ons, like candy-canes, marshmallows, peppermint extract, etc.

I don't know if you have access to mint but I have chocolate mint plants at home:

But won't the candy.......once unwrapped.......tend to draw moisture when mixed in with the powder..........don't know.........never tried it...just a thought in passing.

Side note..........I have one of those Gifts in a Bag recipe book and they DO use peppermint candy in a recipe.........."crushed into fine pieces".........so give it a try. (this was for Choc mint coffee mix......if you want it posted......let me know on here)

Well.........guess I just lied (by my next post!!)..........I have tried it........just too many years ago.........

(this came out of the little "Hot Drinks - Gifts in a Bag" recipe book that I have)

I checked in my book further...........AND FOUND A RECIPE....BUT.........read what I posted after the recipe......

    Choc. Mint Hot Cocoa Mix

3 Tablsp. powdered instant dry milk
2 Tablsp. powdered choc. flavored malted milk drink mix
1 1/2 Tablsp. inst. hot cocoa mix
    1 Tabsp. crushed butter mints

Combine above in bowl and mix well. Place in ziplock bag.
Include directions for making with bag.

    Instructions to make one serving:

    4 T Mix
    6 ounces boiling water

NOTE: My notes on the recipe says that I tried it and didn't think it was great. Not very minty is what I wrote.

I wonder if it would be better if you used hard candies instead of the butter mints...........they are a mild mint anyway!

I would double or triple the batch as it takes a lot to make one serving.............I don't even OWN a six ounce coffee cup........most of mine are 10 ounces or more!!
