fruit leather success!
So I have a case of unsweetened applesauce and wanted to try the fruit leather with kool aid added. The kids didn't like just the applesauce leathers and blending in fruit while easy enough, I just didn't have any to add so I added a little cherry koolaid to the applesauce and they were red and tasted just like store bought fruit roll ups!!

no recipe, it was just a can of applesauce mixed with a little powder from a koolaid packet until it was red then spread out on the dehydrator. It was terrific and the kids loved it. Well all but one and he doesnt like cherry, wants me to make tropical punch next.

Great idea..............and the store applesauce is usually so
bland that you could probably do lots with it........
I might have to give it a try.............Bet canned pears would
be good with that idea too..........they are pretty mild flavored.

I wonder if you could use the flavor packs that you put in bottled waters also. Does anyone seem to think that would work as well as the koolaids?

not sure, they probably would but the only ones we use of those are lemonade and I think they would be a little on the sour side,

Thanks so much for this idea! Yesterday I had some apples that were kind of mushy so I made applesauce. The applesauce was really bland. So I divided the batch in half and used two different KoolAid flavors. Then made fruit roll-ups in my dehydrator. They turned out great!

Do you use a special tray or put plastic wrap on the standard trays? Because with the trays I have....it would fall through....
