Mint?
As the fall is fast approaching, we're harvesting everything and clearing up the garden beds and plants from outside. As a result Ive had to pluck my mint plant and leave it to grow next year.
I have a ton of mint and don't know what to do with it. Besides tea and mint jelly for lamb which we don't eat and we're not big drinkers here so mojito's aren't really an options....what other foods can I use with the mint? I don't want it to go bad nor have to throw it out. I'd rather use it fresh vs dried but in a last resort scenario, I'll be drying it out and keeping it in a zip baggy.

I wonder if it would grind up to liquid form and freeze? I was thinking about choc mint candy or homemade ice cream?

Dry it then crush it for mixing in hot chocolate powder.
I make satchels with mine, and the rest I pitch into the doggy doo area.LDR

Yes here's my linky, super easy. Chocolate Mint Satchels
I do them each year because they do fade over time.
Can also keep some, dried, in jars under the sink to grind up in your garbage disposal to freshen it occasionally. I dump some with ice cubes into my disposal.
Sorry these are not food ideas but wanted to chime in. I wuv my mint!LDR

I like mint on freshly cooked carrots and add it to some of my summer pasta salads. The salads are from Giada de Laurentis and if you google "Giada mint" you'll come up with others as she uses it often in her cooking. Minty fresh

If you are drying it, how about using it in some homemade mint bathsalts to give for Christmas?

That sounds good Darlene, mint in a salad, I would have never thought of that.
My grandfather used to add it to marinade for steak, so I'm kind of partial to mint on meat. I'm not sure if it actually tastes good though or just nostalgic
.
I grew mint once but couldn't think of anything to do with it either. It sounds like it's actually more versatile as a non-food item.

You can add it to yogurt to make tzatziki sauce for gyros. Most recipes call for dill or parsley, you can also add a teaspoon of dried mint.
The fresh leaves I like in thai lettuce rolls: Thai Summer Rolls Recipe at Epicurious.com You can also use fresh basil in addition to or as a replacement for the mint.
Add it to tabouli along with the parsley and other herbs.Use it up, Wear it out,
Make it do, Or do without. ~unknown
