    Default potluck dessert ideas needed

I'm on the hook for a potluck dessert for next weekend. It needs to be finger food and not messy. It's for a dance recital and we're all going to be standing around in gowns.

It also needs to be cheap and easy. My energy levels are low right now and I'm not spending hours rolling out cookies. I have flour, brown and white sugar, numerous spices, a chocolate cake mix, peanut butter and two boxes of chopped dates. I'm open to buying ingredients as long as it's not costly.

Anyone got a sure-fire crowd pleaser?

    Cake balls

You bake your chocolate cake as directed and let cool. After it has cooled you crumble it into a large bowl and mix in 3/4 tub of icing of your choice ( I last used cream cheese). Mix together well and scoop out and form into balls (Mine were about 2 bites each) It'll be a little messy, but that's the fun of it all. Freeze over night and after frozen dip them into melted chocolate bark. Place on waxed paper to harden.

I made these for a Christmas party and was surprised how much everyone liked them. They are very rich, I could barely eat one.

... Sorry just remembered you said none time consuming. Though these are super easy, they do take some time.

And you can add some PButter to the mix (microwave it to soften) and it adds something more.........very good.
