Default I have been buying my bulk spices...

from Marshalls Creek Spices on Amazon.com or you can go to their web site directly..I'm mentioning this because their average size is 6oz containers and a $7.95 flat shipping no matter how much you buy..I ran out of powered Ginger close to a couple of months ago..so I was looking in Walmart because it's the cheapest to buy spices as far as stores go and they wanted almost $4.00 for a small container that I think was less than 1oz..it was a name brand as I couldn't find any generic period and that's looking in 2 different Walmarts..and my Samsclub doesn't carry this spice for whatever reason I don't understand as they sell quite a few spices there..Anyway if you are interested in buying bulk they selling every spice you can think of this is the place to buy from..They fill there orders as they come...I have bought several spices from them already and I'm quite pleased with them..I hope this saves some of you money..

Never thought to look in Big Lot's? I'm sure they are probably cheaper on some of the spices..I forgot to mention that the average price is less than $5.00 for a 6oz bottle..If you buy several bottles at once it will no doubt be alot cheaper in the end..

We buy in bulk from a whole foods co-op and get stuff like yeast there, too.

We also buy catnip tea for our cats. Same thing as pet-grade catnip but a lot cheaper and it's food-grade.

Thanks........not sure if I DARE go to a spice site........I love spices and trying new ones....if I think they will be good quality. My spice cupboard is running out of room!!

That is a good buy for a zest.........they are expensive here....so I zest all my fruit during the winter......oranges and lemons. Will usually hold me for the year.

Your welcome, I never heard of them before I will check them out though I've really just started going heavy in the spice department as I'm learning day by day to use them in more recipes ..I don't think there is anything worse that trying a new recipe and discover you don't have the spices needed or a sub for the spice to make it with..I have such a wide variety of other ingredients that this is where I've fallen short until recently..

My spice rack thingie that has 4 seperate shelfs hangs inside my pantry door can't hold anymore either so I use a old rubbermaid tote to put my bigger spice containers in for now..I thought about trying my hand at dehydrating (freezing)and making my own zest but we are not big fans of oranges or lemons so I passed on it as it would be a waste of money just to buy the fruit to make the zest..I use the zest to make my Citrus Bread using my bread machine..

The Mexican markets in my area and some of the other markets carry Badia - they are a very good quality brand and the containers all of them good sized - are inexpensive. I also buy some spices etc at Aldi but they have a limited selection. Badia carries pretty much most of things that we use.

What irritates me is when they have it all combined already. Like popcorn spice, fahita (sp)spice, etc. I like to cook and want it seperate.
Gordon foods services the boyscout camps, churches, school, etc.
but they are open to the public and are great for wedding and graduations. Some things are only oversized but not all. thye may be only local?
