No Egg Eggnog
Quick No-Egg Egg Nog From Mr. Food aired Monday December 21, 1998
WE ALL LIKE TO CELEBRATE THE SEASON WITH A CREAMY CUP OF EGG NOG. MR. FOOD HAS A QUICKER, SAFER WAY TO FIX THIS TRADITIONAL HOLIDAY FAVORITE.
MR. FOOD : "With all the special food we'll be serving for the holidays, the gang's bound to get thirsty, too. And what's more traditional holiday or looked forward to than a punch bowl filled with homemade egg nog.
Here's one made a new way and a safer way.
In a punch bowl, combine 6 cups of milk and a package of instant vanilla pudding. We mix in well, 4 teaspoons of rum extract and a 1/2 teaspoon of nutmeg. Then in a bowl, we beat 2 cups of heavy cream and 2 tablespoons of confectioners' sugar until stiff peaks form. We add half of the whipped cream mixture over the top. Sprinkle on a dollop the rest of the whipped cream mixture over the top. Sprinkle on a little more nutmeg and that's it. Nothing to it.
Same creamy smooth taste we remember. But the today twist is no raw eggs needed. And these days, when we want to play it safer, that's good news and we've got plenty of options too. Instead of nutmeg, we can use shaved chocolate or zest of lemon or orange or cinnamon. Want an adults only version? Add a little brandy or rum. And this one's so easy it's no fail every time. Your friends will be amazed .
