Default How Do You Make a Smoothie?

I'm looking for different recipes for fruit smoothies. Do you HAVE to use milk? I made one tonight using 2 banannas, 5 grapes, 1 peach, 3 strawberries, a cup of ice and 1/4 c milk. I couldn't figure out what you're supposed to use for the liquid to make it creamy and runny. Any ideas? I have a juicer. Should I have run the things through a juicer first?

BTW, it was yummy but I'm trying to allieviate the milk. Can you just use water?

I always use plain yogurt. I've seen recipes that call for water and dry milk, though. I guess that you could use the water and skip the dry milk. My son also likes to just take cut up fruit, freeze it for a while and just blend that for a few seconds. It's good when it's just fruit, but my daughter and I like the creaminess the yogurt adds.

I use frozen fruit (usually peach & strawberry), ice, and skim milk. I'm not really fond of it with yogurt, usually because it ends up too thick. I like to be able to drink it, not have to spoon it.

I don't make smoothies, per say, but I like to take papaya juice, banana, strawberries and ice and liquify it in the blender. It's so good.

We make one with a banana, some milk, unsweeteded pkt. and ice and blend. It is good. Haven't tried it with any other fruit yet. You can either use ice or not. The amount of milk would depend on how thick you want it.

Any juice or a bit of water would do. Also soy milk is yummy, though I tend to stay away from the sweetened stuff, just because I don't need the sugar in my life. Opening up a few oranges into it can juice it up a bit too.

You might want to take a look at the "all fruit" smoothies on the Jamba Juice menu to get some ideas. Soy milk or a little apple juice works well for us.

I use yogurt or milk to make it creamy but we also like it with just fruit, ice and water (I guess that is more of a slushie than a smoothie.) Bananas also give a creamy texture.

This thread inspired me. Last night for dinner, with our meal we had smoothies made with frozen peaches, bananas, FF vanilla yogurt and skim milk, with just a dash of vanilla extract. The kids loved them!!!!
