kithcen aid mixer
How much would you pay for a used kitchen aid mixer? A friend of mine is getting a new one ( her x's mom bought it for her). I know she took good care of it. I would like to purchase it from her, but I don't know what it would be worth? She said she would sell it for $50.00, but I think that is too low. We've been friends since childhood and I don't want to take advantage of her. Any suggestions? Please help!!

She probably feels, since you have been friends so long, that she's asking too much. You feel she's asking too little. Pay her the money, bake her some cookies and enjoy your new mixer.

I bought mine used, from a friend who cleans out estates. I got it for $20. It just runs and runs, built like a tank!
I know how you feel, with her being a good friend. Insisting on adding another $10 or $20 is what I would do... or pay $50 and bring her a small gift if you know something she'd like (often good friends are easy -and fun- to shop for!).
Either way... you've got the deal of the day!

I bought a refurbished professional model for almost $200.00. I agree, pay the $50 and make her goodies with it.

I would pay the 50 and bake her some goodies with it also. That is one heck of a good deal. I have had mine for 4 1/2 years - I wouldn't trade it for almost anything.

Thanks for the advice, I think, I will give her $80.00 for it. I know I will get alot of use out of it. I'll be sure to make her some cookies too.

I had a coffee pot from them and it leaked....paid over $130.00 for it...after they replaced it 3 times I asked for my money back and they only would give me $50.00 for it
Give her the $50 that she wants for mixer and make her all kinds of goodies...now there mixers are well worth the money.....Last edited by Brat; 09-14-2007 at 09:03 PM. Reason: did't get it finished

You didn't say how old it was. I bought an old one for $35 from a second hand store, with instructions and attachments, bowl. Then I looked some of them up on Ebay and I could have got one like mine for $20 on there (but with shipping fees it wouldn't be worth it).
So, maybe $50 is a good deal.

It's probably only about 3-4 yrs. old. The most she ever used it, has been this last yr. to make butter cream frosting. We took the Wilton classes together. I just want it to be a fair deal. I know I will get alot of out of it.

I got mine second hand from a friend of my mom's at church a few years ago. I paid $75 for it and it is like new. I feel it was well worth it. You will really enjoy it.
