What foods say "autumn" to you?
What foods do you associate with fall. For me it has to be apples, sweet potatoes, pumpkin, soups and chili, and one of my favorites--mustard greens and turnips greens mixed together.

Gotta be fresh picked, crispy fall apples. I love apples, and wait all year just for October.
Of course, pumpkins, and other hardshelled squash, like butternut and acorn.
Surprisingly enough, pork, because where I come from, they kill the hogs in October (so they don't have to keep them alive all winter) and that's when the best pork is available, and the cheapest. Stores should start having their pork specials soon.
And oh yeah...persimmons. I used to love wild persimmons.

Roasts, casseroles, soup, biscuits & bread.
If we ate dessert it would be a warm apple crisp with vanilla ice cream. YUM!~*Darlene*~

Weiner roasts, soups, apples and cobblers. Things that are just a bit heavier than what we've eaten all summer. The first real cold snap I will make pinto beans or stew.
