I would like to join the Baking Club as well. I'm eager to try a couple of the bread recipes that I've seen in the forums here.

I'd love to join the baking club! I really like baking. Today's project is homemade Irish Soda bread for tomorrow morning's breakfast. If anyone would like me to share the recipe let me know.

Here it is! I never baked it yesterday so I did it first thing in the morning and it smells awesome.
Irish Soda Bread
3 tb. butter
2 1/2 cups flour
2 tbl sugar
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/3 cup raisins (opt)
3/4-1 cup buttermilk
Combine flour, baking soda, baking powder, sugar and salt. Cut butter in as if making pie dough, add raisins and enough buttermilk to make a soft dough. Turn out onto a floured surface and knead 1-2 minutes until smooth. Shape into a ball and cut an x onto the top of the loaf. Place on a greased baking sheet. Bake in a preheated 375 degree oven for 35-45 minutes until golden brown.

"Many more people could ride out the storm-tossed waves in their economic lives if they had their . . . supply of food . . . and were debt-free. Today we find that many have followed this counsel in reverse: they have at least a year’s supply of debt and are food-free."-Thomas S. Monson
