Swiss steak recipe?
I have all this beef, I'd like to try my hand at swiss steak...especially if it's a crockpot recipe. Anyone have a tried & true recipe for this?

Heres my recipe. It is a crockpot one.
You can use cubed steak or round st or whatever you have.
Brown meat on stove
Put in crockpot, top with sliced onions, green peppers, red peppers or whatever kind you have.
Add a can or two of diced tomatoes.
I like to use 2 cans and use the sauce to top the potatoes or rice that I make to go with it.
Season with salt and pepper.
Cook on low for 6-7 hours.Debra

2 pounds cubed steak
2 teaspoons salt
1 teaspoon pepper
flour
1/4 cup cooking oil , I prefer to use bacon drippings for flavor
1 large thinly sliced onion
2 cloves minced garlic
2 stalks chopped celery
1 tablespoon tomato paste
1 can diced tomatoes
1 teaspoon paprika
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 1/2 cups beef broth
preheat oven to 350
Sprinkle meat with salt and pepper then coat in a thick layer of flour.
Add oil to dutch oven over medium high heat on stove top. Brown the steak on both sides for about 3 minutes.
Remove steaks from the pan and add the onions , garlic, celery. Saute one to two minutes. Add the tomatoe paste and stir. Then add the remaining ingredients and return the steak to the pan.
Cover and put in the oven for two hours.
Enjoy!

As long as hubby likes his moms cooking you should make him happy if you make this.
My dh hates his mothers cooking. OF course he didn't know that tell I started feeding him.
