well, when the dryer didnt work, i hung lots of stuff up in the kitchen and baths... (tile floors easier to clean up than carpet!)

but if the washer spins 'em mostly dry (ie, not dripping), then i'd say get creative!
if you have a spare room (bedroom, den, large closet, etc) you could set up another line in there.
otherwise, i've gotten creative with hanging things on hangers from louvered (sp?) doors, ceiling fans (try not to spin!) LOL
hang from tops of doors (on hangers), door knobs, shower curtain rods...
wherever... as long as you remember where the clothes are scattered... AND you dont necessarily have company coming over.
otherwise, if it's an opening i can hang clothes... it's used!!!
i've even used the whole kid's bedroom during the day to drape clothes around (on furniture, dressers, (hang from each drawer, slightly closed to hold), backs of chairs, head/foot boards...)).
Just remember where ya put everything!
LOL

I hang outside during good weather. Winter - mainly on rods added in laundry room in basement (also helps w/humidity). I also have an additional shower rod (above shower nozzle) in bath. Great for delicates.

Great ideas! So far I have just been hanging clothes out in the summer, but really want to start doing it year round. I love the hallway idea, it would work perfectly in my house.
I have been looking for a good, used hand wringer. I have a friend who has one. It's amazing how much water she can wring out of her clothes, and especially towels, after a spin dry in the washing machine! It really cuts down the time needed to dry, and, she says her clothes turn out better, a bit softer with less wrinklage! (I know that's not a word, LOL, but I like it!) Anyhoo, I haven't used one, but I hope to find one!

We seem to have so much pollen here when the weather is warmer that I don't hang stuff out. I have thought about putting a clothesline in the attic space. It's warm in there most of the time.

I have not used my dryer in almost 2 years. My washer and dryer are in a closet off of my kitchen. I used clothespins to clip the kids stuff to the wire shelves. I also hung a line inside the closet. I hang things on the shower rod. I have an extra large wooden rack that I got in a hardware store in Chicago before I moved here. I should have bought 2!

I usually hang stuff in the bathroom, or on the drying rack in the bedroom, or briefly on the balcony. One place I lived at they had two clotheslines in a walkup attic. In the summer clothes dried really fast. Just be careful if you are sensitive to the heat.
