I know it's not homemade but the best greasy stain remover I've ever used is.....
409. My mamma used to swear by the stuff and now I'm coming around to her way of thinking. I use it on lots of stains and it works on most but it's really great on greasy stains......

Wow, I've always used the Dawn, too, but I'll have to try 409.
My DH is a big 409 fan. He actually calls cleaners of any kind 409! LOL! Like people call tissues Kleenex. He'll say hand me the 409, (and it's Murphy's or something) but if I correct him he's like 'whatever.'

I'm not gonna tell him about this little discovery of yours, because I don't wanna hear the 'I told you so's.

I have used dish soap and goop..dh is a mechanic who is attracted to oil..lol...Now I'll have to try the 409, since I'm always managing to get something on my clothes from cooking.

Thanks for the tips. when I get some $, I will buy a bottle of 409.
Does anyone know if Dawn will work on cooking oil stain on a shirt? It's already been washed and dried on the line (no dryer). TIA

I think Dawn probably will work if you let it sit for a few hours on the stain. I know 409 will if you do th same, I've done it recently....after the shirt had been dried a couple of times even
