PJ tops get funky smell
I bought two new pajama tops in November. I've only them a couple of months and since I have several pairs of pjs I rotate them out, so I haven't worn the shirts that much, but I've found that they have a certain smell - it's not body odor but it's like that smell of body oil or sweat. I've washed them and even when they're fresh out of the wash, they retain the odor. The bottoms are flannels and do not have this issue. Do you think it's the material of the tops? I think they're a poly blend.
I'm going to try to soak them in vinegar water and rewash - any other suggestions?Goals:

Could be the material.............once had a red dress that did that.......it was the material........just had a funny odor to it.
But......do you wash in cold water?
How about some hot water and bleach......unless they are colored, then use the bleach for colored clothes???
Know lots of people on here don't use hot water but........my whites get HOT and will always get hot........and bleach!

Hate to say this but add a sploosh of pine sol to the wash water
That stuff KILLS everything and leaves it actually smelling 'clean'.
Every now and then I run a full load on HOT and add 2c of pine sol in and let it go...we have an older traditional top loading type of washer (yes, uses lots of water) and well sometimes it gets funky. Doing this every now and then as needed seems to help keep the machine nicer smelling. But the entire basement/house reeks of pine sol
I'd rather that then the skunky water smell!

Ammonia! Put a cupful in the washer. It will rid the wash of the smells, will provide HEAVY DUTY cleaning for really dirty blankets, towels, stored items. Used to be common knowledge, but fell to the wayside with the advent of shiny, brand new, try me, try me products that grace the store's shelves now a days. Dollar store.

Was going to suggest soaking in vinegar water. Didn't know that about ammonia.

I was going to suggest soaking the tops in a baking soda and warm water solution.
I don't know if it's color safe, though

I wash EVERY load of sheets and blankets with a cupful. It will kick the grim right out and will keep your sheets and blankets pristine clean. No more stinky pillowcases.

Soak overnight and add and extra cupful if really yucky.~~~
