    Default Plastic laundry jugs???

what are some of the ways that you use these?

i use them to empty out the deep fryer.
for when i am frying fish, i never reuse that oil.
i put litter in them and have the kids help with messy cleans up when we change the oil.
i like to use them to water my roses, clematis, and iris's.
they are also great to fill with water and freeze for when we go camping. then when they have thawed out, i have water to wash the dishes in. lol
    clothes pins.
    bird seed

that's how i use mine, how about you?

The tide ones I cut into weges and punch holes in them and make balls or pumpkins out of them. They make cute decorations and my cat loved to play with them...

I cut off the tops, punch holes around the lip of the bottom, then sew on , or crochet on a top with casing and draw string -- then use to store and carry beach items, shower stuff when camping, small toys for kids at church, PJs, etc.

I am having trouble imagining this in my head. Do I have it right? It sort of ends up being like a tote bag with a plastic bottom vs a cloth bottom? Sort of? If it is as I am imagining, this would be fantastic for so many uses and I will have to get working on some of these right away! I could use something like that for the kids mittens/hats/scarves!!

That is exactly right! You can make the soft, upper portion any material you have on hand -- and any height you'd like.

If I'm using cloth -- I punch small holes in the jugs, then sew the material onto it, and place buttons over the holes for stability, but I don't know that they are necessary.

Thanks Sunshine! You reminded me of something my mom used to make for family vacations! She'd make us each a purse(what we'd call it) into would go things like the next paperback in our series. We're always reading. Crossword books, rolls of lifesavers, pencils(the short stubby golf type) and flip note pads. Travel klennex packages. Then on the trip these were used to carry home our treasures. Rocks, leaves, empty turtle shells, pinecones etc. As long as it would fit in the purse we could take it home.

I use old landry soap containers in the back of my truck to carry water in. I often see folks broken down on the side of the raod with the hood up and steam pouring out (Hot Florida Days). I stop and have a couple of jugs to leave with someone.
DH takes them to jobsites and uses them to clean up with because often the plumber doesn't have the water on yet.

I have 2 huge ones bought at Sam's (I think it was Cheer) that have the spouts on the bottoms. I save and re-re-reuse those for my homemade laundry soap. The only problem is that I have to always give em a big shake b/c the liquid homemade soap congeals and gets all gloppy....lol.

I make laundry soap with Fels Napha (a bar soap) & grate it...mix with 20 Mule Team Borax & Arm & Hammer WASHING Soda...NOT baking soda! Grate one bar of Fels Napha & add 1 cup of the Washing soda & Borax. Mix well & store in an air tight container...Use 1/4 cup per load..It doesn't make suds but does clean the clothes. You can go to censoredcensoredcensoredcensoredcensoredcensoredcensoredcensoredcensoredcensoredcensoredcensoredcensoredcensoredcensoredcensoredcensoredcensored.com and go to the top of the home page to "other goodies" then to Making & Saving for the recipes. They have so many home made recipes for soaps, shampoo, etc.
