I actually -did- just make a sorting hat. No pattern either... totally off the top of my head.
Can't see it very well... but there you go... the red/yellow thing under it is the tree skirt -- in Gryff. house colors.
I decided to go with the 'Weasley-ish' theme of the Potter-ish theme. A tree Mrs. Weasley would do

I've been getting lots of presents knitted. So far this month I have done 2 pairs of socks, 2 hats and 2 scarves. I've got another scarf on the needles and need to do one more set of hat and scarf after that. We'll see if it gets done before the end of the month.

I finished the scarf for my sister. Still plugging away at that second seat cover. I was going to post a pic of the scarf, but my camera cable has mysteriously vanished into the chaos that was once my upstairs bedroom (in the middle of a fall cleaning). I'll try to find it later and post the pic.

I'm in a slump. I have 3 pairs of socks ... sock #2 for each ... on the needles. Those are going well.
But, I have 2 pairs of fingerless mitts OTN. And I'm having problems with those.

Lady_V, I'll get that pattern to you in the mail tomorrow!!
I'm still working on that second seat cover and I've started another scarf. I may try a shrug with some yarn that I have that I've been trying to use. It is a really nice silk boucle in the prettiest blue, but I don't have much of it. I *think* I have enough for a shrug....DH aka Mad Hen

Thanks Hen, I can't wait to get it!
I am so frustrated right now. I have to pull the tree-skirt completely apart!!!
Before I started it, I checked to make sure I would have enough of the darker color... I did... until I tried using it, and it isn't the SAME. I was more than half way done too!
I am going to redesign it and I will finish this darn thing if they have to prop me up in the corner with a coffee IV to keep me going!

Sorry to hear about the tree skirt. That had to have sucked.
The hat tree-topper was very cute, btw. Are you going to put a mouth on it? (I assume, because it is a "talking" hat?)DH aka Mad Hen

The one I'm working on now is kind of smoky blue/grey. Same material.
