    Default November Needle Arts Challenge

Okay, time to start thinking about your projects for November!!

I'll give you a choice - it can be autumn-themed or winter-themed. For those of us who are still experiencing 87F days, it is hard to think of winter just yet, but I know some of you are already huddled around your heaters.

So, this month has a theme. Which means, a plain old scarf doesn't cut it, but a scarf with a snowflake pattern does. Or a quilt with a falling leaf pattern. Or orange socks. You get the idea.

Who is in? You have one week to think of your project and to post it here!!

I'm in! I'll go through my sewing basket and see what fall/winter things I can work on. It'll be something cross-stitched again.

I am going to try my hand at latch hooking a rug for the kitchen. I always start all the Christmas cookie baking around the middle of November, and I stand in there for hours. It makes a world of difference to have a soft rug under my feet!

The pattern I am looking at is a cornucopia, so that is my autumn-themed project!

Does a pair of slipper socks count? After all, slipper socks are in themselves winter-themed
(This would be a major challenge for me. I have never followed an instruction when crocheting, and I've only found an ENGLISH one for slipper socks. Believe me, that's tough! They don't teach you needlework-slang at school )

Well I will be working on my winter themed wall hanging. It has snow people giving gifts. I just have to finish handsewing the border and then I can add the trim.

I will allow slipper socks if they are: a) winter blue; or b) have little white "snowball" pom poms on them.

Here is a pic of the rug I am going to try to complete by the end of November. I'm going autumn for my theme, since I am still sitting around in shorts every day. Someone forgot to tell California that it is almost WINTER.

If I don't end up in the nut hatch from trying to complete the rug, I'm also going to try another shrug. I have a pattern that I've done before, and really like, but I didn't much like the colour. So I found a different colour that I do like, and it is called "autumn red".

Hmmmm. I'll probably have to give up trying to think of a winter-themed project: I'm already on the hook to knit gifts for EIGHT of the kids' friends. Plus hats and wristwarmers for both kids.

Well, if any of them are blue, orange, or white, I'll let you off the hook for the "theme." Hate to lose a challengee just because she is swamped.

Hmmmm, I might have to think of something for this one. I just picked up some cream, brown, and orange skeins of yarn from the thrift store (separate skeins of each color, not all those colors mixed ). I need to use it up. Maybe a stuffed pumpkin or something....

I'll join, but I'm totally going to have to think of something. Nothing is coming to mind right now. I'll get back to you on this one.

How about hedgehog-shaped slipper socks? Would at least solve my I-don't-like-to-follow-instructions problem

That's why I called it a "challenge!" Make you people sweat it a bit. October was way too easy.

If you can justify, in your mind, how a hedgehog is autumnal or wintry, I say go for it. Or maybe make him orange.
