    Default 2010 Needlework Arts Challenge!!

To get us started for 2010 - here is our general Needlework Arts Challenge for 2010!!

In 2009, Madhen gave guidlines to choose from - mahalo madhen.
I personally think it's a great idea to continue and invite whoever is so inclined to suggest monthly ideas.

Let's see what our nimble fingers are going to create in 2010!!

Personally, I have no idea what I am going to work on - other than finish up my scrubbies and dishcloths for Easter presents.

    What are you planning on?

My personal challenge is to finish Christmas gifts first. So I've got 3 pairs of socks and 6 sets of scarf, hat, mittens. Then I'm free to do whatever .......

My Knitting and Crocheting skills are very beginner! I'm working on a baby blanket(knitting) for my sister's baby due in July. I would like to try and work on some Christmas gifts as well...Hats, scarfs, mittens, booties. Hoping to get serious and finish the baby blanket in a month or two tops(I'm really slow) and then learn and work on the rest.

I do some cross stitching. Haven't done any FOREVER, but am considering doing some for Christmas gifts for next year. I am hoping that it would count for this challenge. If it doesn't, I am sorry I phosted in the wrong place!!

I am going to work on the long list of Yule gifts and 'want-to-dos'.

Since I am only 36 minutes in to 2010, I think I have time

If there is a theme, I will try to work within that, otherwise, I will post as I go.
I can't be out of money... I still have checks left!

You are all so far ahead of me/us!! We still have four hours to go until 2010!!

Of course cross stitch counts - anything that you use a needle of any kind on counts!! Do you do counted or stamped cross stitch. rabelgrils? Looking forward to seeing what you create!!

I hope to have a sweater jacket finished in a couple of weeks, then I want to knit some novelty pot holders and dishcloths with some cones of cotton I have.

My goal this year is to either have enough items to start an Itsy site, or some place where I can make some spare cash to save for retirement.

I've been trucking away on the capelet for Maggie. Only problem is--it has cables and I've never done cables before. I'm not sure that I am doing it right--so tomorrow, I will head out to the LYS and see if they can help me.

My goal for January is to finish up all the things I have on my needles!!! I have:
    ~Citron shawl
    ~Horcrux sock #2
    ~rainbow black ankle sock #2
    ~baby blanket
~Afghan Square a Month (I'm still on JUNE!)

I really want to cast on Saroyan and my youngest ds has been begging me for both socks and slippers. But I'm determined to at least get the shawl & socks finished before casting on anything else!

Cables are actually pretty easy. Here is a youtube video that will show you how to do a basic cable. There are quite a few others that show different kinds of cables that are more fancy

I have many plans already. Slippers ja socks for my sister-in-law; her feet are always cold. Some more slippers and socks for gifts in the future (like next Christmas). A blanket for my niece. She will have a confirmation party next summer and I think a blanket would be a nice gift. She always loves my blankets and has been asking for one.
I knitted myself a Baktus scarf, you know the Norwegian design? It was very easy to knit and it is lovely to wear, so I will propably knit one more.
And ofcourse I will crochet some more little toy animals, amigurumi style.
