Still listening to Uncle Tom's Cabin. A bit saccharine for my tastes, but maybe that is just the time in which it was written.

On Chapter 32 of UTC. From a historical literary point of view, it is interesting, but I think I need to pick a more modern author for my next book.

Hope its not too late to join. Loved the challenge last year! It kept me reading each month. My total of 21 books was pretty good for me, but would like to read at least 30 this year. My goal of 50 for 2010 wasn't realistic for me. So, I'm going for 30 in 2011!

January will be hectic, but should get at least 1 or 2 books in. Hope to find sometime this week to pick up the Christmas book I started before Christmas. I'll be back w/the title a little later.

I'm in again this year - didn't read anywhere near 100 things last year or maybe I did but didn't count them all? I was surprised at how much we do read and don't count

Through last years challenge, I'm going to try to watch tv less and be on the computer less and include reading time. I was going to be ambitious and set a goal of 25 books for the year but honestly...reading isn't as up to snuff as it used to be for me. I'm more of a magazine type gal but do enjoy the occasional book. I'm going to set my goal for 1 book a month = 12 for the year....now, time to see if I can do it!

I'm going to kick off the year with this one: [ame="http://www.amazon.ca/Concise-Chinese-English-Dictionary-Lovers-Novel/dp/0385520298"]A Concise Chinese-English Dictionary for Lovers: A Novel: Amazon.ca: Xiaolu Guo: Books@@AMEPARAM@@http://img.amazon.ca/images/I/51pS2skM1mL.@@AMEPARAM@@51pS2skM1mL[/ame]

I haven't picked up my book for two days or more. Usually I would be done with it by now but I've been so motivated to get things done around here and with work. Today I play to relax more than I have in the last few days.. mostly because I really need to relax more today before I go into burn out mode too early in the month! Laugh. So today I plan to read at least 50 or more pages of my book. No pressure, I love to read. If I don't make it to 50 thats ok too. I'll update later where I'm at in this book....

[ame="http://www.amazon.com/Drawn-Into-Darkness-Gatherer-Novel/dp/0451227808"]Amazon.com: Drawn Into Darkness: A Soul Gatherer Novel (9780451227805): Annette McCleave: Books@@AMEPARAM@@http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/5171fEF8EHL.@@AMEPARAM@@5171fEF8EHL[/ame]

One thing I can say about the book 100+ pages in is I'm not sure I'm enjoying it much. I'm not sure if the writing is just drab or if the story line is losing it's energy. Hopefully something will catch me today and I can get through it quicker.

Finished Janet Evanovich's last Stephanie Plum book last night. These are such easy breazy reads. It was pretty good, in line with all the other novels she writes. Now I'm trying to decide what to pick up next. I'm thinking 13 1/2 by Nevada Barr. It's a break away from her usual character and looks great.

I enjoyed it. It is a christian perspective on living below your means. It's not so much a how to book (it does have some tips in it) but it is more of a "why" book. It was a good book for me because I sometimes question myself on whether I should be working more than part time. This book aligned with my thinking on being home for the kids is more important than money. Does that help? I feel like I was rambling, lol.

I am reading a five book series by L.B. Graham. It is a fantasy series with very Christian moral undertones. I'm liking it so far.

Funny thing is, most science fiction and fantasy that I like has very moral undertones. Maybe it is the whole good versus evil that is prevalent in it all.
