Just finished Explosive Eighteen by Janet Evanovich. Maybe it's me or maybe it's the writing but this book and the latest JD Robb, New York to Dallas , left me "meh". They are two of my favorite authors and I was so looking forward to their books, I just didn't get the fun factor out of them I usually do. Hmm...

Finished 3 more:
9. The Passion of Artemisia by Susan Vreeland--really enjoyed this book. It's about Artemisia Gentileschi, a woman painter in the 1600's. She was a real person, and this is a novel based on her life. After looking her up on the internet, the book does differ some from her real life, but it was still really interesting!
10. Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close by Jonathan Safran Foer--I thought I'd read this before the movie came out. It was good; a little difficult to read, just because of the way it's written.
11. The Secret Between Us by Barbara Delinsky--my mom gave me this book to read. It was OK, but I wouldn't go out of my way to read it. At least it was fast!

I've been following along with this thread every so often to check what others are finding interesting so I guess I'll jump into the challenge
I am loving my Kindle Fire; it's making reading enjoyable again since the books are so portable!
Finished The Hunger Games and am in the middle of Catching Fire. DD13 read them over Christmas break - a gift from her thoughtful brother DS14. She seriously sped thru them so I knew they'd be good. Love this series! We can't wait for the movie either!

Here's a catch-up for the end of January. I haven't read much the last few days. My work schedule, without warning turned wicked (over now) but I had no downtime there and I was too pooped when I got home to last through more than a few pages.
Stockett. The Help (audio). I enjoyed this much more than I thought I would. I had started reading it long ago and lost interest very quickly, but the audio was splendidly done.
Ali. I Am Nujood, Age 10, and Divorced. Sort of interesting. Child marriage in Yemen. A short, quick read.
Frazier. A Parrot in My Soup. Memoirs of a couple of years living in southern France. The title is from an incident in a restaurant. Not brilliant, but definitely a pleasant read. This was a Kindle freebie and I've downloaded another one to read later.
Parakeets for Dummies. I'm actually considering getting birds again, so there will be some bird books in my list for awhile. I also read a finch book, but it was short enough that I'm including it in the "shorts" group.Donna
