Very pretty, DC! I love thick and quick yarn, especially for a cowl.

wtg dc, thats awesome! I love the color.
I hit a road bump with my mittens. 3rd row of the chart and suddenly I'm missing like 5 stitches? Ugh. Missed the part where theres an increase round after the ribbing before the chart. Think I'll rip out the three color work rounds and fix it right now while the tornado is sleeping.
eta: oh man, am i suddenly GLAD i screwed it up...just realized I never switched to bigger needles! What a nightmare that would have been!
(I also fixed a craftsman jacket for Christpher today. Its flannel with a hood, quilted liner in it. It was in the basement in the old house and one sleeve got chewed up by mice. I took the one of the upper outer pockets off (just the pocket, left the top flap so you can't tell its gone) and replaced the cuff with that, and then took the insides of one of the bottom outer pockets (sewed it shut) and used that to patch the hole on the other side of the sleeve. Think it worked pretty well since he was ready to junk it.)Amanda

You know I just want to say that I'm now seeing why a STASH is vital to my sanity. I can't imagine being broke and not being able to knit. How would I get through being broke? yikes.

Eight inches into the dog bed. Seventy-two inches to go. At an avg of 4" per day, this might take a while.

I finished the eighth strip on the lapghan and got all but one round done on the ninth and final strip. I still don't know if I'll have enough yarn, but I'm optimistic. I'm ready to put that project behind me and start working on gnomes again.

Wow. Wow. I submitted Christopher to receive a Quilts of Valor quilt. I received an email from a woman in Oswego (months ago) that wanted to make him a quilt. I just received an email saying she finished it just before Christmas, and how she always has a specific person in mind when she creates a quilt. She entered it in a contest, and it won! One quilt was chosen to represent the Quilts of Valor foundation in a traveling spring quilt show, and HERS is the one quilt(out of 102 entered) that was chosen! Christopher is going to get a pretty amazing quilt

Lol Christopher is my boyfriend and Parkers father. He medically retired from the Army a year ago this Valentines Day. Ten years in, 3 1/2 years in Iraq total. He was retired for severe PTSD.
Out of the blue he said the other day that he wants to work on being a better father and "husband" and that he wants to work on things, etc etc. Pretty much what I've been waiting for him to say for a loooong time (waiting for him to come up with it on his own I mean) so we may not be moving after all, we'll see.Amanda

I thought so, but it didn't sound right. Thanks for clarifying.
I really hope things work out for your family.

I have started a counted cross stitch with red floss on white Aida cloth.
It says "Bless This House" and will have an oval border around it.
I am going to put it in a frame to sit on a table or counter.Hello from Sunny Central Florida

Forgot to say, AP, to give Christopher a big hug from me and tell him how much I and so many others appreciate his service to our country. We wouldn't have the freedoms we have without people like him, and you too. Thank you both for your sacrifices.
I'm changing up my challenge for this month. I was going to work on the hummingbird on black Aida but I don't seem to be getting anywhere with that. Yesterday I ran across a smaller hummingbird I had started a couple years ago and given up in frustration. The pattern is very poorly done. Someone in China never learned to color inside the lines, so it's really hard to tell where some of the stitches go. I had done part of it and run out of thread, not a good start, and I stuffed it away a couple years ago. Today I ripped out the thread there's not enough of and started over. If I can't make it work this time, I'm tossing it. I only paid a dollar for it at a rummage sale and it's not going to be worth continuing aggravation. If I do get it done, I'll give it to my mom for Christmas. So I'll see what happens.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
