Smile Family post office and more

In the book Frugal Luxuries, Tracy also mentions a family post office. This was nothing more than a basket to send "mail" to other members in the family.
I think this is such a sweet idea. A central place to leave notes, small candies, apologies, thank you's etc.

I was thinking about how sometimes I get a bit wrapped up into myself. I often get a little sidetracked simply thinking about all of the things I "woulda coulda shoulda" done. I think if nothing else, so far this book has shed some light upon my self centeredness.
I do believe in doing things for myself and being selfish at times, but my point here is not along those lines. It's more about placing some energy into creating many special small and simple moments with your family.

When she mentioned dignity, respect, patience, and tolerance- I just sat and thought to myself for a few moments. Now before anyone starts to think I am even remotely implying submissiveness.....bear with me. LOL
I am more wanting to point out the impact it had for me to read this section. I was considering some things in my personal life and realizing how I react to some things. I was thinking about what a gift to give my family to show a bit more tolerance and patience. I decided to really work on this area.

I thought it was a great idea also, but just never implimented it. I guess the reason I didn't was because it seemed like something that would probably cause more problems than it was worth, thats the mail-box idea. I know if I had accidently missed one kid, they would probably feel hurt or upset. kwim

Dignity, respect, tolerance - now thats a different story because its one that we can do everyday for each individual in our home along with family members and friends. This one I did start after reading Tracey's book and the older kids particularly really began to see a change in me when it came to respect and tolerance. In fact, ds#2 said to his dad when we went to visit him a year ago, "man has mom changed". It made me feel good because although I don't accept all that they do, I've come to respect their decisions as adults.
