Default What have your read or are you reading in May?

So far this month I have read Morning Glory by Julia Cleaver Smith, it was an ok book, it is was published in the 1970s I think and was a fictional Texas epic, it spanned 3 generations of a family who became wealthy from newspapers, television and radio. It was the only book written by 2 book editors who co-wrote it and never wrote another one.

I also read Black Order by James Rollins (he is the author that wrote the Indiana Jones screenplay for the movie that is out now). It was a great book, full of action, adventure and intrigue. It is one of his Sigma Force books and is about a weapon that could control evolution that the Nazis were working on at the close of WWII, it was taken by some of scientist and hidden away in the mountains where they continued to work on it. It has amazing subplots which are all equally interesting and intriguing. I loved it and highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys a good action read.

I finished up Candles Burning by Michael McDowell PHD and Tabitha King (wife of Stephen King) . It was a novel that was started by McDowell but he passed away before he completed it and his family and estate requested that Tabitha King complete it. It was a good novel but I could definitely see break between where McDowell left off and where King took over. It is about a 7 year old girl who has the ability to "hear" ghost. She is raised in a wealthy home by a doting father, a manipulative mother and tormenting brother until her father is murdered. Her live takes an unpleasant turn and she and her mother end up living in Florida on a small island with an odd woman and assorted boarders. I could definitely see the similarities between this novel and Stephen King's Dumas Key. I would imagine that both husband and wife were writing their respective novels at the same time and bouncing ideas off of each other. I did like that in this novel Tabitha King wrapped up the story and all the loose ends in a great final chapter. If you enjoyed Dumas Key I think you will enjoy this.

I'm working on a series of books by Sue Henry about Alaska. Their myserties involving an Alaskan Trooper and his girlfriend an Iditarod champaion. Perfect thing to read about the cold and snow of Alaska as the temps rise above 90 here. Picked them up at a yardsale along with several other mysteries. So my summer will start out with plenty of good books.

Started and Finished "PS I Love You" By Cecelia Ahern.

LOVED IT! Movie concept based on the novel but its not a movie version of the book, which disappointed me.

I just finished reading One for the Money by Janet Evanovich. I know I read more, but I can't remember right now. Next on the list is the second in the series called Two for the Dough.

I'm on a Terry Pratchett kick right now...finished Pyramids (ugh.), Maskerade (fun!) and I'm working on Wyrd Sisters.

Also read Pretty is What Changes, it's about the breast cancer gene. Very interesting.
