    Default I have to share...

I am a voracious reader. Dh is not. However, last Tuesday, dh had jury duty. A few years ago he had read a book by Jeffrey Deaver (I can't remember the name for the life of me, but it was later made into a movie with Angelina Jolie and Denzel Washington) and he LOVED it. Hasn't read a book since. So, he knew he'd be sitting all day doing nothing waiting to be called at jury duty, so he pulled out one of Jeffrey Deaver's other books off of our bookshelf (my parents buy me books for Christmas every year since they know I won't buy them for myself). So, he read it at jury duty and got hooked. He read it while eating breakfast in the morning, instead of watching tv at night, and even stayed up late reading. He was about 3 pages from the end on Thursday night when I went to bed at around 9:00. I woke up at 12:30 and he still wasn't in bed. I knew he HAD to have finished by then, so I went downstairs to the family room, and there he was in the recliner reading a book that my father had bought him years ago! He said, "Amy, I'm hooked! I've got the reading bug! I can't stop!" I LOVE that he's reading. I've always thought it strange that he doesn't enjoy reading because he is brilliant, and now he's loving it. It's so nice to see him enjoying something that I really enjoy as well. His birthday is next Friday and when his father and my parents called to see what they could possibly get him, it was nice to finally have an answer!

Your DH sounds like my f-i-l. He owned his own busuness for about 40 years and never had time to read. Now that he's retired, he does three things:

    golf
    work in the yard
    READ

He reads all the time! I am thrilled. It's like his mind is getting all the nourishment it didn't have when he had to concetrate just on his business. I love to see people reading!
