Florida Women Republican Group Boycotting Oprah
I'm curious what you all think of this.
Oprah Winfrey made a decision at the beginning of the presidential campaign that she was going to NOT interview any of the candidates on her show. Now, a Womens Republican Group in Florida is calling for a large-scale boycott of the Oprah Winfrey show because she won't interview Sarah Palin on the show. They are saying that she isn't being "fair" by not interview Palin, since her show targets and is primarily for women.
She has every right to have whatever guest she wishes on the show. They also have every right to call for a boycott of her show.
However, I just find it absolutely ridiculous for them to be outraged, as she isn't simply NOT interviewing Palin. She's NOT interviewing Obama, Biden, McCain, and Palin.

It's ridiculous. Her show--she can invite anyone she chooses. And I agree...it's not like she's had Obama & Biden there but not McCain & Palin.

She didn't interview Obama in her studio. She did one better, she went out on the road with him and campaigned for him. I think this is why the Florida women are boycotting.
She has every right to campaighn for him. Just like I have every right not to watch her. Actually, I kind of gave up on Oprah way before she campaigned for Obama. She just gets under my skin.

We all know why she won't interview Palin on her show......She's voting Democratic!!!! Bet if Hillary was Obama's VP, she'd being doing all sorts of shows about women in politics.
And she'd talking non-stop about what a history making election this was for women.
I can't watch her anymore. She's too Hollywood for me....ANGIE

Oprah actually has had Obama on her show in the past, but it was before she officially announced her support for him. Once she announced her support she made the decision not to interview any of the candidates simply because she publicly supported one (for the first time in her career).
She has also stated that she'd be happy to invite Sarah Palin for an interview ~ after the election.
I'm with Parksfamily5 ~ I don't watch her simply because she annoys the snot out of me. I believe in her wealth she has completely lost touch with how the real world works...but good for her. I hope to be wealthy enough one day to lose touch with reality, too!
As for the boycott ~ well, its keeping them (and Sarah Palin) in the news, which I suspect was their ultimate motivation behind it.Last edited by Jamauk; 09-15-2008 at 07:23 PM. Reason: reword things to make it make sense!

My only opinion on this is that everyone and their mom is running a boycott nowadays.

I think that people should boycot whatever THEY want to boycot as long as they understand that everyone else has the right to decide if they want to participate or not. I dislike when people yell at others who don't follow their way of thinking.

Maybe I'll boycott the group that is boycotting Oprah.
I have never gotten on the Oprah Bandwagon, but it's just seems to be a dumb reason to complain.McD

I'm gonna boycott boycotts.
I think it's an ignorant reason for to boycott. If you don't want to watch Oprah, then don't watch her. However, to say she's being unfair by not interviewing Palin before the election is stupid. If she had Palin then I'm sure she'd have to have Biden, Obama, and McCain to be fair. At the very least she'd have to have Biden.

I think they need to get a grip and get angry and boycott something that matters.
It would be entertaining to see Oprah grill Palin Barbara Walters style. I can't stand Oprah, but that's one episode I'd watch.

My opinion: Everyone needs something to do with their time.
Her show, she's already said she wouldn't interview ANY of the candiates during the election, she can do what she wants." May we never let the things we can’t have or don’t have or shouldn’t have spoil our enjoyment of the things we do have and can have. As we value our happiness, let us not forget it. One of the greatest lessons in life is learning to be happy without the things we cannot or should not have."
