Dexter - Any fans?
Just looking for fellow "Dark Passengers"
If you could kick in the pants the person responsible for your problems, you wouldn't be able to sit for a month.
Did you know that a 4 year student paying $20,000/year who finances their education graduates with over $103,000 in debt to start? But a student who works and pays cash and takes 6 years to graduate ends with $6,300 in their pocket! So much for "getting a head start by financing!"
Greebo(Nerd Spender): Loving and extremely patiently tolerated husband of ceashels.

Changed channels? It's on Showtime - always was. I think Season 1 was re-broadcast on other channels at one point, however.
But you can get it from Netflix - Seasons 1 and 2 anyway. 3 is just starting.If you could kick in the pants the person responsible for your problems, you wouldn't be able to sit for a month.

That show is off the hook! We started watching it when we got free introductory Showtime and Dexter had just started its first season. Now DH downloads it off the 'net.
“When you get to the end of all the light you know
and it's time to step into the darkness of the unknown,
faith is knowing that one of two things will happen:
you will be given something solid to stand on,
or you will be taught how to fly.” - Edward Teller
“Our Earth is degenerate in these later days;
there are signs that the world is speedily
coming to an end;
bribery and corruption are common; children no
longer obey their parents;
every man wants to write a book and the
end of the world is evidently approaching.”

courage to change the things I can,
and the wisdom to know the difference.

I signed us up for Showtime JUST to get Dexter. When the season ends, so will our subscription.

It certainly has some qualities that draw me into the story... I just wish I wouldn't wake up in the middle of the night thinking about serial killers. (This happened when I watch to much The Shield too.) I want to dream of bright copper kettles and brown paper packages... lol

Well - Dexter has brown paper packages! (Containing body parts...)

ok sick....sick ...sick ...Maria and Dexter should never be mentioned together.
I'm not a big TV buff but this one has me suckered. A serial killer you kinda, well I don't want to say "like", but I can't think of a better word.
Makes me think I've lost touch with my sanity cause I hate that I don't REALLY want him to get caught. That sponser chick was a lulu huh?

I absolutely LOVE Dexter. In a reversal of the usual, the show is MUCH better than the books, imo.

There are books????

Yup, three of them. By Jeff Lindsay. He should've left it at the first two. The first was the best, very graphic, but still had some points that didn't make much sense (like, Deb knows what he is and is okay with it.) The first season of the show followed the book pretty closely but cleaned up the issues I had, which is why I like the show better, it makes more sense. The third book totally blew because it just changed everything by bringing supernatural forces into things and he starts to mold Rita's kids into future killers-by-the-code. Just too too much ridiculousness for me, too much that totally seemed to go against his previously established character. He's much deeper on the show.

I'm working on book 1 now. I had read the same info about the books that Janelane mentions - that book 3 particularly sucks. Going through book 1, I also agree, the TV series is better than the books. I'm glad the author will get royalties for the idea, but Michael C Hall, I think, has a better sense of the overall creepy.
I'm rewatching season 1 right now between season 3 episodes. Of the 2.4 seasons so far, I think 1 was still the best, not that 2 wasn't good!
**************** SPOILERS SEASON 3 SPOILERS SEASON 3 SPOILERS SEASON 3 ****************
So far, I'm LESS into the whole DA family story line. I do, however, enjoy the Daddy Dexter plot line. I think Dex is starting to fool himself more than he realizes. Yes, in Season 1 he was empty, but towards the end of S1 and thru S2, Dex started having real human feelings, and he's showing them again in S3 with his protectiveness of the kids. I just finished the S1 ep w/ the psychiatrist and I believe Dex is also attached to Rita more than he really thinks. He just doesn't know how to handle the emotions hes not used to having.
My current operating theory.

I used to catch it now and then when I was traveling. Really enjoyed it on Showtime, but the white-washed non-premium channel version is boring. My sister bought me Season 1 last year, but I have to admit that I haven't had time to sit and watch it.

I used to watch it the first season when it was on CBS, then it got switched to a pay channel, so I haven't watched it since. I thought it was pretty good.
