    Default Let's Talk Books

Okay, so tell me...do you love books, or do you love to read?

I know, I know...strange question. But, I was watching something on tv today, and in the course of the story, someone held up one of those electronic book thingys and said that the actual book will be obsolete by 2014. Not true, but got me thinking...

I love to read...I'll read anything I get my hands on. Yet, there is nothing, nothing like reading a book. The smell of the pages, flipping through the pages with your hands, the feeling of a tight spine on a new book, holding it in your hand, flipping back to reread a favorite part, the comfort in a well-worn book that has obviously been read over and over.

Maybe I'm crazy, but I think there is something different about reading an actual book, as opposed to reading something online.

    Your thoughts?

I have to agree. One time I wanted to reread Dantes Inferno, and I didn't have the book and didn't feel like going to the library. Well I searched around online and found a full version for free. I read it but, honestly I didn't enjoy it as much because I couldn't curl up on the couch or relax in the tub and read.
For me, reading is all about relaxation and entertainment and you just can't get the full experience sitting at a desk reading from the computer.

    I LOVE to read BOOKS!!
I don't like to read things on line I like to be holding a book reading... I don't like listening to a book either I like to put a voice of my choice to a charactor, I think that sounds weird but you know what I mean I hope.. while I am reading the different charactors in a book just sound different and I don't like listening to books to tape or dvd because they don't sound like I think they should..
I like good ole fashion books!!

I like books too, but would not be opposed to one of the readers. In theory at least. I've never used one. You could still curl up with one of the small portable ones -- metaphorically for me, since I'm not very "curl-able" any more."

I read a lot when I eat, and I get really aggravated with books that won't stay open or that are too thick to fit in my book holder. The Kindle type I could just prop up against the ketchup bottle and carry on!

I would not like doing it on a regular computer, because I do like to stretch and be comfortable when I read. And on the whole, I prefer books. But the electronic readers have their place. I imagine college students lugging around pounds and pounds of textbooks would appreciate them. And they would be great for readers who traveled a lot.

I love reading books. Love the stories, but also love just curling up somewhere and losing myself in the book. I will read anything and anywhere. It's comforting.

I also love books and the whole ritual thing we each have when reading. I love after a session of reading to look at how many pages i am into the book LOL

I too love to read books. I couldn't imagine reading a lot on line would be very inviting.

Like many others, I prefer the feel of a book in my hands. Reading online doesn't 'feel' the same and to me, I lose a lot because don't get totally engrossed in the content.

I also have audio books for when I travel or have a big project to do in the house. Still prefer them to reading on the computer.

If books were to become obsolete, I would cherish the ones I have in my house more as I keep books I could read over and over and find something new about it every time. I would continue to read, even if it means parking my carcass at my computer to do it...

I love to read. And like everyone else I prefer actual books. I have several ebooks downloaded on the computer and made it through about 3 pages in one ebook. It just didn't seem right or feel right. I love taking my book in my hands and sitting out on the porch and reading when the weather is beautiful or curling up in a big comfy chair with a blanket when it's cold and raining outside. Plus, I love the smell of books. My DH makes fun of me when he catches me smelling the pages of a book. I constantly close the book and look at the spine and run my fingers over it, just something weird I do to actually feel the book in my hands.

I will just continue with my book hoarding/stockpiling just in case.

On line only holds my attention for short articles or the like. I will print out anything very long.

I am definately of the "love the actual books" group as well.

Books make me feel "rich". Paperbacks or hardcover, it doesn't matter, all those stories ready to take me who knows where are just the best. And those books you just can't put down, out of this world.:readingt::

Love books! Love everything about books! My idea of a really good day is when I can get to a library with time to just browse. That said, the Kindle might have a place for having a whole series at my fingertips without needing a whole extra bag.

I love books. I love the smell, the comforting feel of curling up with a blanket and hot drink, the way they look all lined up in a row in alphabetical order...hehe. Reading on the computer stinks. But I would be curious to see one of those little ebook readers in action.

I love reading and I want to read real books. I love libraries and bookstores, too. I have noticed that i can get depressed if I havenīt been to a library for some time.
