XBox 360
So, dh took the rest of his Christmas money from last year and his birthday money and bought an XBox 360. It came with a Lego Indiana Jones game and the Kung Fu Panda game. He bought Madden '09 with the remainder of his money. No frugal rules on Christmas or Birthday money...it's your money...you get what you want. He's been researching XBox and PlayStation 3 for months, trying to decide what to get. Looking on Consumer Reports and gaming websites, etc, etc, etc.
Well, what fun that XBox is! I still love our Wii the best, but we are having a lot of fun with the XBox. It's funny because I've never been a big video game person, but it's fun stuff.
We'll definitely be entertained throughout the winter. However, when spring rolls around, we're wrapping it up and heading outside.

my son just bought himself with his own money xbox 360 arcade one. one of the games he bought seperatley got scratched after he played for 30 min. some people say ur suppose to stand them up(hard drives) others say no. plus after my son called microsoft they said it was the place where he bought it should give him new game. but thestore said microsoft is resposible. we heard many testimonies after that negative things about microsoft. and some of those games are older in arcade one. and those comapnies wont give u something else. ull be waiting along time for it to come in mail.
better off getting wii. playstaion still has kinks yet to fix too. so far never heard anything bad about wii's.

Well...thanks for that, Miss Thrifty.

As I said, we've already bought it and been using it, so we certainly aren't going to be able to return it. So far, so good.My Blog: http://amysreallife.wordpress.com

We bought DS one last year for Christmas and he loves it. We also bought him a Wii last February, but he seems to prefer the 360. He has an Xbox Live membership. Playing CoD4 and Madden 09 live online with others are his two favorite games to play.
I prefer the Wii. The games are more in alignment with my skill level. I just cannot get the hang of any of the games DS has for the 360 so I avoid it.
Hope you enjoy yours as much as much as our DS enjoys his.
Happy gaming!!!DD (19)

My husband wants an Xbox 360. If we get one, that'd be nice. (I'd prefer a Wii myself, but either would be nice) I enjoyed our Xbox a LOT. I'm jealous.

Glad to see you're enjoying the xbox 360. All the game consoles are a ton of fun. I am terrible at them all, too. LOL I feel I have a fighting chance on the wii. LOL Ally still beats me though. haha
I'm missing that hand/eye coordination talent for sure. I can't remember what the buttons do and spend more time asking how I do this or that. LOL The kids love laughing at me. I joke and tell them I let them win. LMAO
Doesn't it blow your mind the amount of games available for all these consoles? I'm overwhelmed when trying to pick one at the store. I feel so olddddd.
edited to add...I forgot. Little game story. LOL
I bought Zachary a hoodie. Well they had all these emo looking types. err no. Well they had a space invader black and white hoodie. I got him that one. So I bring it home and he tells his little sister Ally that Space invaders was a vintage game. Vintage? Sara, It was funny, because as we stood in the store looking at the games, I kept thinking, "Aren't there any old, classic games anymore?"
Yeah, the Wii is really my best bet if I want to win anything.
Except, I can never beat Patrick in Bowling.

Amy, If you have a GameStop store, go there for games. You can them used. You can ask them to try the game out before you buy to make sure that it plays!
Also, buy an extra fan for the console. That will help decrease your chanes of it over heating!
What sort of games does your dh like?
We play a lot of Halo 3, Call of Duty 4, Black (it's an original xbox game), F.E.A.R., and we have Dance Dance Revolution, all of the Guitar Hero games, and ABSOLUTELY LOVE the Gears of War game!
Most of those games you can play single or co-op. If you like to play, then I would suggest Gears of War. But not when the kids are around. It has some language in it and it's bloody! But OH SO FUN!

We love our XBOX 360. There are some overheating issues that you should be careful about, I really would look it up. I've got a story I can tell you about that if you are interested, but would prefer to do so in pm.
Anywhoo, we love ours. We don't keep it hooked up, unless we are playing. We recently got a game (for free thru Houseparty) called Scene it! It's like the board game but for the XBox.McD
