What do you read?
I am curious as to what newspapers and/or magazines you read on a regular basis. I'll bet there will be a diverse list because we are all from different places and have different interests. I read the Wall Street Journal, and the Lexington Herald Leader daily. Our small town paper is published once a week. For magazines, I read Countryside, Grit, and Hobby Farms. I also read This Old House, Family Handyman and Fine Home building. Finally, for pure entertainment, I read Maxim, Playboy and Popular Mechanics. The subscriptions are the biggest splurge I make on myself.

I read People magazine always. It is my favorite by far. Good Housekeeping, Ladies Home Journal, Redbook and Cosmo are others I like.
Our 15 year old daughter has a subscription to Cosmo Girl and Teen Vogue. But she also likes to read her dad's Reader's Digest
Our 13 year old son likes ESPN magazine an Sports Illustrated.
DH gets Journal of Accountancy (he's a CPA), CFO magazine, and Reader's Digest. He also likes my People and DS's sports magazines.
We don't get the paper. Our city's paper comes out daily, but is way too liberal for either of us. It is a real waste of money - only good for the bottom of bird cages and cleaning windows with.
DH probably reads the Wall Street Journal at work along with a few other financial publications.DD (19)

I am subscribed to Countryside, Hobby Farms, Progressive Farmer (which I get for free), Vogue Knitting, The Strand (literary mag), Paris Review (literary mag), Equus, Shakespeare Quarterly (can you tell I was a lit major in college?), and Prevention (because I got a year's subscription for free). On a regular basis, but not subscribed, I like Gourmet, Bon Apetit, Scientific American, and Discover magazines. I also get a daily newspaper from my closest city (Sacramento) and try to at least skim it daily.

I subscribe to Healthy Cooking, Woman's Day, and my mil bought me a subscription to Redbook, which is about to expire (and I don't enjoy it enough to subscribe myself), and Family Fun.
Dave subscribes to Home Power, and the kids get Nick Magazine.
I don't read the newspaper in print. I usually just listen to the news on TV or the radio.

I don't read anything routinely other than the Sunday Ads in our local paper. Although I'm an avid reader as far as magazines go I usually just like to flip through them and look at the pictures for ideas. If I read anything out of them it is generally excersize routines or weight loss success stories.

No newspapers, but I'll check out news online during long boring shifts.
I subscribe to Time and Newsweek (free or very cheap offers I got) - I read the bits of them that interest me, then pass them on.Donna

Except for my free thrice weekly local paper I receive no magazines or newspapers at my door, but on-line I read the news every day:
Local: http://www.castanet.net/
National: http://www.cbc.ca/
International: http://nytimes.com/
Food: http://www.epicurious.com/ (Gourmet & Bon Appetit combined)
These are the regular/daily sites I visit, of course there are many more I view/read occasionally.Last edited by djbout; 01-10-2009 at 01:36 PM.

We get the daily local newspaper, free Buyer's Guide (weekly) but no magazine subscriptions. I generally look at magazines at the Public Library when I get books and DVDs there. I donate a magazine subscription to the Library each year, so lots of people benefit from it and I don't have to toss it in the recycling bin.

You gave me the idea to look on line so I just went in search of free magazines that you can get for free on line. There are many of these you can get free just doing a search on google! I don't buy any, I always look for the free ones.
Thanks for the idea!

I read them all, Jack doesn't look at the womens mags.
You can really tell alot about people from what they read.
National Geographic
Conservationist
Popular Mechanics
Woman's Day
Family Circle
American Hunter (I only read The Armed Citizen section)
Adirondack Explorer
Wanted to add that if there is a magazine that you subscribe to or want to and see a lower price advertised, let them know you want it at that rate & they will more than likely give it to you. Just recently my subscription to Woman's Day magazine was nearing the end & they said they would give me so many issues at "this" price, I found a much better price on more than double the issues & cheaper to boot so I added it to the envelope with their pitch & told them I would renew only with the better deal. No prob bob & I have 3 years for less than the price of 1. I get Popular Mechanics at half price too, called them & told them I could get it from Amazon at half the price so they gave it to me for that. I never pay full price for any magazine, you don't have to either. Free is even better though.
How many of you get magazines from others or pass yours on to others? We do both here.Last edited by Darlene; 01-11-2009 at 08:37 AM.
