Question Once you've started a book, will you continue to...

Read it even if you don't like it.

I won't. I always figure there are thousands of books to read so if I don't like it or can't get in to it after the first chapter or two, then it's gone.

I don;t read too much for pleasure (I mostly read for knowledge and information), but even still, if I cannot get into a book (like the one that I started yesterday that was so DRY) I will not finish it. I'll just go on to another one.

No, but I don't buy books. I either borrow or get them from the library. I'm the same with movies. My husband will watch the entire thing even if it's awful. I go do something else if I don't like it within the first 15-20 minutes.

If I can't get into the book after the first few chapters I will not finish reading the book. There have not been to many books I haven't finished reading though.

Yes, usually. That said, if I don't like it, it may take me months to finish it there is only one book that I can think of that I didn't finish and that's only because it made me sick to my stomach.

I won't finish it either - as you say there are thousands of other books waiting to be read.

As for non-fiction, sometimes I just pick out the chapters that interest me and read them.

No. My limit is about 50 pages or so, and then I give up and pick up something else.

I won't finish it if I don't like it but I will give it at least 50 pages. I have read some books that I did not think I was going to like but by the 50th page I had changed my mind and they ended up being good books.

Usually no. I don't buy books normally, but borrow from the library. So if I don't like it, I just bring it back - no money lost. If I do buy a book though, it's usually a book I LOVE or think I will love at least... and if I own them I usually end up reading them multiple times. Like the Harry Potter series - I've read the entire series 2-4 times. I go through books too quickly to buy all the ones I've ever read.
