Default Rant: In case you'd Like To Know Where

your bailout money is going, here's a report from the GAO.

I don't mean this as an opening for political discussions, it just p***ed me off! In a bi-partisan fashion, of course, since all of us are getting shfted with this.

I'm just shaking my head. I've said it before, it's all about greed.

Canada is doing a huge bailout too on the 27th of Jan. I hope they are smart enough to have checked this out because I would be furious if this is going on here too. However I'm sure it is!!

Business needs to be held accountable. If there weren't "claims" that our country would fall apart without these bail-outs I would want to see these businesses go under. I wouldn't want to see American jobs lost, but I can't stand the people at the top of these businesses collecting millions and billions and the rest of us working for peanuts to scrape by with simple luxuries like: food, clean clothing for the appropriate season, a warm place to sleep, and vision, dental, and health care.

I think these bail- outs should have come with stipulations:

All employees making 6 figure salaries would take a pay cut or be let go in order to pay them less of a bail out and protect the jobs at the bottom where employees are making wages they can barely survive on. All Ceo's with all the luxuries life can afford would have a wake up call and be hit hard by reality. They did a poor job running their business, they don't need to be making that kind of money anymore.

I agree, this problem should be fixed. However, I don't feel the American people matter in government's "Big" picture. We matter to the degree that if we can't contniue to buy from big busniess our country will dissolve. I don't feel that we matter so much in the sense that we lose our jobs, our homes, our financial futures .

I really hope with our new president we will see more "For the people..." Instead of "For big business...." I don't think the founders of this great nation would be very proud of how it's people have been treated and not taken care of properly.

I'm honestly very curios about this: So, then, do you think that all businesses that do business here should be taxed for what income they make in other countries, even if taxed there? Even if that money stays pretty much separate from the money here?

ETA: That sounded a little antagonistic. That isn't at all how I meant for it to perceived. Maybe this is what I'm curious about: Given that these companies often employee thousands of people, how would you help maintain employment for all of those people? That picture of the Bank of America ATM is another prime example... what if a huge bank suddenly tanked? The government has insured us all against losing a ton of money in that situation. Why not help keep peoples' money stable and keep more jobs at the same time?
