I think that makes good business sense. They are definitely losing money, so cutting expenses is smart.

It's actually been on the horizon for a long time. My brother is a postal inspector and he said that about 5 years ago, they were toying with the idea of cutting Saturday delivery.
They probably should have done it a few years ago and saved themselves some money. Makes sense though, to cut it to 5 days a week and save some money!

For people that work a full time job, I could see it being a pain trying to mail packages if the PO weren't open on Saturdays. Other than that it makes good business sense to me.

boy, thats gonna put a crimp in getting bills to where they need to go on time. some of the cred card companies only give you maybe 14 days to pay them!

I think it's a good idea. I could see us losing a day and overall people being able to handle it.

It has always seemed strange to me that the mail was delvered on Sat...I wouldn;t miss it a bit. In fact, I can go several days without even going out and getting my mail. I have all my bills delivered online, I pay them all on line...I don;t send Christmas cards, (don;t get many either), I have ZERO magazine subscriptions......the less clutter coming to my mailbox, the better!

Not in all locations is the post office open on saturday but there is delivery. I dont see the mail moving from place to place being affected as all that is contracted for 7 days a week.

I agree that this is good business sense. I think they would pick a day in the week and keep Saturday delivery. This would make it easier for people who work M-F. I have everything done online and keep sending notice to stop my junk mail.

We don't have mail delivery on Sat. We can get stamps and such until 12 noon, however there is no mail delivery. It was the same in the city when we lived there.

We've never had mail on Saturdays here (northern Canada tho. lol!), the post office is never open at all on the weekend.

Makes good sense to me. I can see where it will hurt those who only able to go to the PO on saturdays.
